We’re eyeing up a nice long Easter Bank Holiday – as well as the second week of the kids’ holidays – and for everyone who’s got time off the good news is there’s plenty going on.

Last chance to see Red or Dead at Liverpool’s Royal Court

Whatever team you support, there’s no question Bill Shankly was one of the greats of football and this play at the Royal Court is like an epic love letter to LFC’s legendary boss. Peter Mullan embodies Shankly, supported by a huge cast of 52 including Les Dennis in a must-see for fans. On until Saturday.

The Harlem Globetrotters have always brought a magical combination of sporting excellence and showbiz pzazz to basketball courts around the globe and the current squad is just as incredible when it comes to ball tricks and skills. They return to the Arena this Tuesday as part of a world tour.

Liverpool ONE’s Easter Party on Good Friday

Steak lovers already have Cowshed on Seel Street down as being one of the best in the city, now it’s raising the bar even higher with monthly specials. The current one – 8oz fillet with crushed truffle new potatoes, asparagus and garlic & bourbon sauce – ends Tuesday so be quick, or just early for the next.

Reviews for the National Theatre’s production of War Horse at the Empire have been absolutely phenomenal – the story, based on a novel by Michael Morpurgo, the set, the whole cast and especially the puppetry which brings animals alive on stage are mesmerising. Weekend walk at Royden Park in Irby

It’s tempting but you can’t spend all weekend ploughing through choccy eggs so break it up with a walk. Royden Park in Wirral looks beautiful now with woodlands and the walled garden to explore, plus the miniature railway will run on Friday, Sunday and Monday weather permitting from around 1pm.
