It feels a bit weird not having the stress of the footy anymore, but in a good way, because it’s super-sunny so there’s no need to be in front of the telly.

If you can drag yourself away from getting a tan in the garden, here are 15 things to do in and around Liverpool this weekend …

Wild Shore returns to the Dock

If you fancy having some on-the-water fun with the family at the Albert Dock then Wild Shore’s got loads of it. There’s the amazing inflatable obstacle course to have a go on, or if you want something a bit less bouncy then you can try the stand-up paddle boards, mini boats or pedalos.

Pop-up food and drink vendors are going to be at Ainsdale Beach

All this gorgeous weather definitely says beach day, and there’s good news if you’re planning to head to Ainsdale this weekend because B-Eat On The Street will be there with a pop-up serving fish and chips (got to be done), crepes and waffles as well as coffees.

New Trails & Tails digital map experience at Calderstones Park

This is one for the family to do together – The Reader at Caldies has launched a new digital park map which you can download on your phone then go off exploring, scanning codes as you go to find out more about the sights on a literature or heritage trail.

Africa Oye is staging a special online festival

While we all wait to get back to in-person festivals, Africa Oye is having on an online one starting tonight at 7pm. It’ll be on Africa Oye’s Facebook and YouTube and will feature Rocky Dawuni, Elida Almeida and festival favourites Kasai Masai as well as DJ sets and archive highlights footage.

Grab A Jab is on again over the weekend at Sefton Park

If you haven’t had your Covid jab yet, then here’s your chance to get one easily with no appointment while you’re out in the park over the weekend. Everyone over 18 can get a first or second dose at the drop-in site, 12-9pm Saturday and 11-6pm Sunday.

If you watched The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix, or even if you just love a bit of chess, head to Liverpool ONE on Sunday from 11-4pm because there’s ChessFest in Chavasse Park including free lessons, 50 boards for kids to play on and giant boards for everyone to try.
