Liverpool City Council appeals for help to find mum after precious baby items were found

Liverpool City Council has appealed for help to find a mum and her family after discovering precious baby items, including two small silver jewellery boxes containing first locks of hair and a baby scan photo.
The trinkets were found at the city’s waste recycling centre in Old Swan, together with a hospital ID band with the surname of ‘Tetley’ on, after a package fell out of some rubbish that had been picked up by one of its waste management teams during a routine round.
A spokesperson for Liverpool City Council said:
“It is impossible at our end to know where the items have come from in the city, but we have been told the ID band is from the Women’s Hospital.”
They went on: “The waste management team sifts through a lot of material for recycling purposes and, from time to time, something unusual and unique will be discovered.
“It’s not uncommon to find things that have been accidentally put in the bin, which we think is the case with these items judging by the way they were packaged.”
The baby scan is mounted in a blue photo frame with a metallic decoration around the edge; and the two first-locks-of-hair pots are circular, and each has a raised teddy bear design on the lid.
The Council has contacted the Women’s Hospital about the find and hopes that either through them or by someone seeing the post on social media – the council has Tweeted about its discovery – it can reunite the precious belongings with the mum or her family.
