7 festivals happening across Liverpool to look forward to in 2023

2023 is gonna be a boss year! There’s so many things to look forward to, and we all know that every Scouser loves a “fezzy” don’t we?

Well there are LOADS of festivals coming up in and around Liverpool this year that you can look forward to. 

Take a look here at some that have been announced and get deciding which one you’ll be going to! 

Creamfields North 

Festivals

Creamfields has blazed the trail for electronic dance events since the late ‘90s. Renowned for attracting the biggest names in electronic music as well as its huge production design and ambitious staging, each year features over 300 artists performing across 30 stages throughout the weekend. 

The line-up this year includes Tiesto, Calvin Harris, and Swedish House Mafia!

On the Waterfront

On the Waterfront is back in 2023, kicking off the summer season for another series of stunning shows and live performances, with the first phase headliners featuring some of Liverpool’s homegrown heroes.

First up on Friday 30th June is the phenomenon that is Jamie Webster who has gone from a modern-day local folk hero to an established solo artist in his own right.  Fresh off the back of a UK & Ireland headline tour and packed Glastonbury performance, 2022 also saw the release of his critically acclaimed second album ‘Moments. 

Also playing and following on from their iconic sell out performance at last year’s inaugural event will see the return of the mighty Camelphat headlining on Saturday 1st July.  Since their first foray into the underground side of dance music almost a decade ago, the Grammy nominated Liverpool duo have had a meteoric rise that has seen them achieve global success while remaining true to their underground sound.   Their headline sell-out show at ‘On The Waterfront’ last year was their biggest and fastest selling show to date in the city.

Neighbourhood Weekender

The Warrington based festival brings together an incredible weekend of live music across three stages alongside a hub of local concessions and festival favourites – The Neighbourhood Inn, The Cornershop, The Library Silent Disco and much more. 

Pulp will headline Neighbourhood Weekender as part of their ‘What we do for an encore’ live dates on Sunday 28th May 2023. After a second consecutive UK number one album, legendary duo Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott will return to close out the main stage on Saturday night, as well as The Kooks also performing on the main stage. 

Others announced on the first wave of the line-up include; The Wombats, Self Esteem, Anne-Marie, Ocean Colour Scene, Jamie Webster, Sugababes, and many more!

Sound City

Sound City delivers the ultimate festival to discover the sounds of the future. 

Welcoming music loving attendees and artists from across the UK and the world over, Sound City takes place in its Liverpool home, a city with a buzzing live music scene and a rich musical heritage. 

Sound City Festival will take up residency at a new home in Mountford Hall at the Liverpool Guild of Students. One of the city’s biggest live music venues, steeped in musical history with artists  from Queen and The Buzzcocks to Jessie J and Dizzee Rascal having taken to Mountford Hall’s stage over the years. 

The venue boasts a state-of-the-art light and sound system, and is just a 5-minute walk from Liverpool city centre.

LCR Pride 

Liverpool City Region Pride aim to position Liverpool as the most LGBTQIA+ friendly region in the UK. They do this by highlighting the daily barriers that LGBTQIA+ people living in and visiting the region face, and by creating an inclusive culture where people feel they can fully participate and contribute.

The event regularly takes place on the last weekend of July with full details waiting to be announced…

Reminisce Festival 

Founded in 2014, Reminisce Festival has grown from a local event welcoming in 3,000 music lovers, to a festival that is now known around the globe, with 2023’s event set to be bigger and better than ever before. 

Reminisce Festival has previously had headline sets from DJs Lee Butler, Steve Cocky and Tall Paul, live performances from Boyzlife, 2 Unlimited, Fatman Scoop, Whigfield, Alice DeeJay, Barbara Tucker, fire-breathers, stilt-walkers and much more.

Reminisce Festival restored its famous reputation, last year, for being one of the most feel-good festivals in the country. Audiences streamed through the gates, and with a new queuing systems installed by the festival, this meant that customers didn’t have to wait to get to the dance floor!

Live music at Aintree Racecourse

Join Aintree Racecourse for a Jockey Club Live event, where racing and incredible music acts combine for a fantastic evening of sport and entertainment.

Watch the runners and riders compete on Aintree’s iconic turf before the stage is set for an equally iconic music superstar. Previous headliners have included Deacon Blue, Tom Jones, Craig David, Madness, Jess Glynne, and Kaiser Chiefs.

This year they have announced that Pete Tong will be there with his Ibiza Classics.
