Sam Quek to join 1000 walkers for Clatterbridge Glow Green Night Walk
2 years ago
On Friday 3 Feb, up to 1,000 people will come together in Liverpool City Centre for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity’s Glow Green Night Walk.
Among those cheering on walkers will be Merseyside’s own Sam Quek, a long-time supporter of Clatterbridge.
The event, which has attracted record numbers for the Charity, will see walkers take to the streets, marking World Cancer Day, with many taking part to say thank you for the incredible care that The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre provides.
Buildings across the city and beyond will light up green too, to show their support and light the way for the walkers who will set off from the Museum of Liverpool before taking in some of Liverpool’s most iconic landmarks.
BBC Morning Live presenter Sam, who is also a team captain on Question of Sport and Olympic gold medallist, will be taking to the stage to count down walkers at the start line.
She says “I’m really proud to be at Glow Green supporting a charity that’s so close to my heart. Clatterbridge Cancer Charity and every person taking part is doing such incredible things for local people with cancer, I can’t wait to be there to cheer on the crowd and hear more inspirational stories behind this fabulous walk.”
While the evening will be filled with music and laughter, there is time to reflect too as hundreds of lanterns will be displayed on the steps of Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, along with messages of thanks, hope and love.
Head of Charity, Katrina Bury said:
“We are delighted to have a record number of walkers signed up already for the Glow Green Night Walk. The money we raise will help to fund research and care at Clatterbridge, so every penny really does count.
I’d like to say thank you to everybody involved, including Sam, all of our fabulous performers and to our sponsors; Regatta Outdoors, Laing O’Rourke and Roofcare, for making Glow Green possible.
It’s going to be a very powerful sight as so many buildings across the city light up green, and along with our supporters create a wave of colour across the City, walking together against cancer.”
There are just a few days left to sign up to Glow Green, visit www.clatterbridgecc.org.uk for more information.
