Who doesn’t love a quiz night? Right answer – no-one.
Liverpool’s got loads of fantastic quiz nights in pubs, bars and restaurants in and out of the city centre.
Some do get super-quizzers who go every week so you’ve really got to be on top form to get anywhere near them, but even if you end up way off the prizes it’s always a fun night out.

Lunyalita at the Albert Dock
Here’s a quiz with a difference – tapas favourite Lunyalita has monthly themed food, drink and music quizzes. Coming up on March 31, there’s a Country Classics one from 7pm-9pm. You get food and drink to taste and answer questions on; a live music round and a proper party atmosphere so dress-up is encouraged (and rewarded!). £2 per person to enter.
Ma Egerton’s
Behind the Empire, Ma Egerton’s has a big quiz on Monday nights, 8pm-10.30pm, hosted by actress Tina Malone. Tina takes the mic for questions on general knowledge, entertainment, music and sport with cash prizes up for grabs plus mystery rounds to keep you guessing. Stay around to play bonus rounds and win a bar tab or free drinks. £1 per person to play.
Shipping Forecast
Shipping Forecast on Slater Street is a top pick for live music, sport and quizzing – and it’s dog friendly. Thursday nights from 7.30pm are all about speed quizzing, with quizmaster Steve firing out the questions and a £30 voucher for the winning team (plus rollovers). No pens or paper, just one device for each team to download the app. £2 entry per person.
Liverpool Arts Bar
If you’re up Hope Street way early in the week then head to the Arts Bar because it likes to get all quizzical every Monday with the Competent Quiz Night. Get your friends together and get your heads together because there’s a decent cash prize up for grabs. It can fill up fast so booking a table ahead is a good idea.
Ship & Mitre
One of Liverpool’s best-loved classic city centre pubs on Dale Street, the Ship & Mitre hosts its weekly quiz night every Thursday night. The quizzing kicks off at 7pm, but it’s worth getting there early and treating yourself to some lovely pub grub including a big choice of loaded fries courtesy of The One Pan Band. It’s £1 per person to enter.
The Lisbon
The ever-fabulous Lady Sian is an absolute legend in Liverpool and when she’s not calling numbers for psychic bingo at The Lisbon you’ll find her taking over the mic there for the weekly Sunday pub quiz. It starts at 7pm, there are regular themed ones to looks out for and it’s got to be one of the funniest quiz nights in the city.
Lime Street Central
A short walk from the station, Lime Street Central does some delicious food and cocktails, as well as having live music, but that’s not all – it also has a couple of pub quizzes on every month. On the first and third Thursdays from 7pm, it’s trivia all the way with a £50 gift card prize to win. Book or just walk in.
Ten Streets Social
Love a bit of optimism, and a good Friends throwback, so Joey Triviani’s Soon to Be Infamous Quiz at Ten Streets Social ticks all the boxes. This monthly one’s probably not for the serious quizheads who are just in it to win it, instead expect lots of laughs, fun and games along with the quizzing. 7.30pm and £3 per person to play.
Peter Kavanagh’s
This must be one of Liverpool’s longest running pub quizzes and it’s still one of the best around – Peter Kavanagh’s is a little gem up in the Georgian Quarter and it’s home to a quiz every Thursday night with cash prizes to be won. It starts at 9.30pm and bills itself as ‘the best insult laden late night quiz’ so you’ve been warned!
Hobo Kiosk
If you’ve never been inside the tiny friendly Hobo Kiosk in the Baltic then you’re in for a treat – try to get there on Wednesdays because that’s when Mrs Hobo usually presides over the Hobo quiz night. It’s a perfect one for getting a group of mates together for great local beers, a lot of laughs, brain teasing and booby prizes. 8pm start.
Tempest on Tithebarn
Mondays are honestly nobody’s favourite day of the week, so they could use a little help with the good vibes – luckily, Tempest on Tithebarn have come up trumps with their weekly Monday night quiz. It starts at 6.30pm, there’s a huge cash prize of £100 for the winning table and even the runner-up gets fizz. It’s a busy one so worth booking.
Shenanigans
Shenanigans is an old school Irish pub on Tithebarn Street, famous for its live music and as somewhere to watch all the big sports events. Every Monday it welcomes a nice mix of regulars, students and newcomers to its regular free weekly pub quiz. On from 8pm to 10pm, there’s no need to book, just turn up and get testing your little grey cells.
The Cross Keys
Tucked away on Earle Street at the back of Old Hall Street, The Cross Keys has long been a favourite in the business district, not least for its menu of traditional pub classics and beer garden. There’s another attraction too – get over the midweek hump with a regular Wednesday quiz, starting at 5.30pm. It’s teams of six, so round up your mates.
BrewDog Liverpool
On Colquitt Street, off the top end of Bold Street, BrewDog is a great place for craft beers and a menu that goes big on burgers, loaded fries and loads of plant-based options. It’s got a regular quiz every Thursday, starting at 7.30pm. It’s free to enter and there’s the extra pull of beery prizes – it gets busy so best to book online.
