Metropolitan Cathedral launches new family trail and audio tour
2 years ago
The Metropolitan Cathedral has launched two brand new visitor resources, aimed at giving a fresh perspective on the iconic Liverpool landmark.
First to launch is an interactive family trail, especially designed for younger visitors. Free to access from any smart-phone, Explore with Eva takes visitors on a treasure-hunt style journey around the Cathedral. The self-guided trail prompts children to seek out a selection of the Cathedralās world-famous art and architectural features, whilst virtual tour-guide āEvaā shares fascinating fun facts along the way.
Children will learn secrets about the Cathedralās awe-inspiring Lantern Tower, one of the largest areas of coloured glass in the world, and will be encouraged to take a closer look at the recently refurbished Grand Organ.
Second to launch is anĀ immersive audio tour,Ā which enables local and international visitors to experience the sights and sounds of the Metropolitan Cathedral like never before.Ā This comprehensive tour brings the beauty of the Cathedral to life through a mix of music, history and art. It is available in French, Italian, Spanish, Polish and Chinese translations.
The new audio tour also includes two bonus tracks: Sounds of the Cathedral which features a hand- picked section of music from the Cathedral Choir and Memories of the Cathedral which explores the Cathedralās history through the voices of those who experienced it first-hand.
Both new attractions were made possible through funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and were produced by local heritage engagement experts Whispered Tales, in collaboration with Cathedral staff and volunteers from the local community.
Cathedral Dean, Canon Anthony OāBrien said: āBoth the family trail and audio tour provide a wonderful opportunity for new audiences to engage with and enjoy the heritage and beauty of our Cathedral. We look forward to sharing the new resources with visitors in the coming monthsā.
