Wirral half term: 8 things you need to do
2 years ago
It’s school holiday time and with the great weather forecast it’s an opportunity to get out and about locally and find out what’s on offer for families in the Liverpool City Region.
Wirral has so much to offer for all the family this half term.
From free days out at its beautiful beaches and parks, to farm parks and interactive learning fun, there is so much to see and do.
Here are eight suggestions for Wirral family fun over the next week.
Hilbre Island
Take a walk out to Hilbre Island and find out more about this beautiful part of the Wirral coastline. And it doesn’t have to cost you a penny!
Start from the slipway at West Kirby and head out to Little Eye, navigating around to Little Hilbre and then to Hilbre Island. It is about a two mile walk across, depending on how fast you and the kids walk – and the tides of course.
There is an open day on 28th May when the Friends of Hilbre Island will be on hand to tell you more and help people learn how to protect the local environment.
Please check tide times before you set off for your walk and remember your own refreshments. And make sure you take your litter home.

Maizy’s Play Barn is open over half term at this popular Wirral farm. Book tickets online and the kids can enjoy the indoor soft play area, jumping pillows and sand pit. And you can treat them to an ice cream from Maizy’s Parlour to enjoy in the summer sunshine.
The famous maze doesn’t open until July, but Brimstage is still a nice place to spend a couple of hours with the children during half term.
