Liverpool personal trainer to host women’s wellness event dedicated to female health through the decades
1 year ago
A day dedicated to empowering women to take control of their bodies at every stage of life, from 20s through to post-menopause, is coming to Liverpool.
The Women’s Wellness Day has been created by Liverpool personal trainer Harriet McGuffie to help women gain a better understanding of the physical changes they’re likely to encounter as they get older.
The event, at Hope Street Hotel on Sunday November 12, will feature a wide range of experts covering every aspect of wellness from gynaecological and sexual health to skin and hair care.
Harriet has been involved in the fitness industry for more than 25 years, running her own fitness studio in Woolton and as co-founder of Get Pregnancy Fit which offers prenatal and postnatal support.
Throughout her career, she has worked with female clients of all ages, helping to guide them towards their personal goals. This one-to-one training experience has given Harriet an insight into the changes women’s bodies go through, especially during pregnancy, post birth and menopause.
She passionately believes in equipping women with the awareness and knowledge needed to navigate those changes in each decade.
The aim of the Women’s Wellness Day is to combine education, self-care and empowerment in one inspirational session.
A programme of speakers includes Dr Nicola Mullin, a consultant in sexual and reproductive health, talking about all things sexual health. She is a Consultant in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Clinical Lead for sexual health in Knowsley, part of the Royal Liverpool University Hospital Trust.
Dr Nicola Mullin has had an interest in women’s health and menopause care since she was a trainee in obstetrics and gynaecology, and ran the community menopause clinic in Chester sexual health service for several years. She is passionate about menopause education and is involved with the Wirral Menopause community CIC and helps to run their menopause cafes. In her spare time she is a forensic doctor at SafePlace, the Merseyside sexual assault referral centre, and brownie and girl guide leader.
Breathwork expert Samantha Flynn, who runs I Breathe with Sammy workshops, will also be sharing the power of breath and techniques to harness it and having worked extensively with mums-to-be and new mums, and being a mum herself, women’s health physio Sarah Norris from The Physiotherapy Centre will be talking specifically about hormone-related and pelvic health.
For those who are planning a pregnancy, expecting a baby or have recently given birth, Dr Lorraine Dinardo will discuss post-natal pelvic health and how to prevent perineal trauma.
Skin specialist Nicola Harris and hairdresser Tanya Scott will also both be drawing on more than 25 years’ experience in their industries.
Nicola, who is a holistic facialist and educator, will focus on skin changes and concerns at different times in women’s lives, while Tanya will be talking about hair issues and especially the effects of ageing.
In addition to a wide range of informative talks and the opportunity to ask for advice, guests at the Women’s Wellness Day – which will run from 9am to 4.30pm – will also receive refreshments on arrival, lunch and goodie bags.
There are 30 tickets available. Tickets are £100 per person and can be purchased here.
Harriet McGuffie said:
“I work with women of all ages and have seen first-hand how the different stages of life can pose challenges when it comes to female health and well-being. I truly believe that knowledge is power; if you know what to expect and how to deal with the different stages of life, you’ll be better equipped to face them head on and come out a stronger version of yourself.
“Topics like menopause or postpartum don’t need to rule you – you can navigate these life changes with effective tips. We’ll also be delving into skin health, nutrition and fitness to help our guests feel their best from the inside out. Tickets are limited so please book in advance to secure yours and we very much look forward to seeing you there on Sunday 12th November at Hope Street Hotel.”
