How much would you spend on a first date outfit?
New research from TK Maxx reveals that Brits are feeling the pressure of a first date more than ever, investing more time and money into their first date appearance to ease those initial nerves.
According to the TK Maxx survey, people in Liverpool lead the nation in spending on first date outfits, averaging £78.88.
The survey, which gathered insights from over 2,000 individuals across the UK, delves into the role of fashion in first impressions and dating culture.
In Liverpool, 65% of Scousers said that their outfit choices were crucial to feeling confident and comfortable on a first date.
Interestingly, only 16% said their clothing choices influenced the mood and outcome of the date, showing that Scousers can enjoy a good time regardless of what they wear.
When asked why first date fashion is important, 53% of people in Liverpool said it offers insights into a person’s personality and preferences, while 30% believed it hinted at their level of organisation and attention to detail.
Liverpool also had the least number of people (21%) stating that fashion helps in determining physical attraction.
The people of Liverpool also showed a non-judgmental attitude, with 17% of participants disagreeing that what a date wears would impact the chances of going out again. Despite being the most likely to splurge on first date outfits, personality ultimately overtakes fashion for Scousers when looking for “the one”.
