Knowsley Pride is back for 2025

Knowsley is getting ready to fly the flag for Pride again this summer, with an even bigger and brighter celebration of LGBTQIA+ inclusion, community and visibility.
Knowsley Pride will return on Saturday 19 July, with a borough-wide programme of activities leading up to the main day — finishing with two headline events: Knowsley Pride at Court Hey Park and Pride in Prescot at the Shakespeare North Playhouse.
After last year’s first Pride in Knowsley, organisers were keen to bring it back and make it even better — with more events, more ways for local people to get involved and more opportunities to come together and show support.
This year’s expanded programme has been made possible through funding from the Michael Causer Fund Small Grants Scheme. Local community groups will be running inclusive projects across the week focusing on creativity, wellbeing and LGBTQIA+ visibility — all in memory of Michael Causer, the Whiston teenager who was tragically murdered in a homophobic attack in 2008.
Racheal Jones, CEO of One Knowsley, said: “We’re so proud to see Knowsley Pride grow, with more borough-wide events and the continued support of the Michael Causer Fund. Thanks to this, local groups can run meaningful, community-led Pride projects that help people feel seen and connected. Michael’s legacy lives on through this support and the growing backing for Pride in Knowsley.”
The main day: Court Hey Park and Pride in Prescot
The day kicks off with Knowsley Pride at Court Hey Park from 12pm to 2pm. Expect live entertainment, community stalls and family-friendly performances celebrating identity and inclusion. Paul Doyle will host alongside House of Suarez, who’ll be bringing their trademark energy with performances and dance workshops that everyone can join in with.

Darren Suarez, Artistic Director at House of Suarez, said: “We’re buzzing to be part of Knowsley Pride — it’s a family-friendly day that brings people together through dance, creativity and pure joy. We want everyone to feel welcome to get involved and express themselves.”
From 2pm the party moves over to Prescot for Pride in Prescot at Shakespeare North Playhouse. Delivered in partnership with Sahir, the afternoon and evening will be packed with workshops, performances and a soapbox moment in the Ken Dodd Performance Garden — all rounding off with an evening of storytelling and theatre celebrating LGBTQIA+ voices. The fabulous Sister Sister from BBC’s Drag Race UK is on the bill too.
Lisa Allen, CEO and Creative Director at Shakespeare North Playhouse, said: “Pride is an important moment for our community to come together, celebrate, reflect and support each other. We’re excited to host an amazing line-up of performances and activities that shine a light on LGBTQIA+ voices. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to Prescot this July.”
Ant Hopkins, CEO of Sahir, added: “For us at Sahir, Pride is more than a party — it’s a statement. It’s about being visible and unapologetically ourselves. Partnering with Shakespeare North for Pride in Prescot means we can put LGBTQ+ stories centre stage where they belong. This day is about honouring our history and creating a future built on joy and equality.”
Knowsley Pride 2025 is only possible thanks to the support of partners, local organisations and sponsors including Livv Housing Group and Morecrofts Solicitors, whose backing helps keep LGBTQIA+ inclusion at the heart of the borough.
