Hilarious drama starring Vicky Entwistle coming to the Floral Pavilion next week

Former  Coronation Street  star  Vicky Entwistle  is set to take the stage at New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion theatre in  Living the Life of Riley, a powerful and poignant new play that explores the highs and lows of family life with warmth, wit, and raw honesty. 

Vicky Entwistle is starring in this hilarious new theatre production written by  Alison Stanley. The play is inspired by Alison’s own experiences as a mother navigating the emotional journey of her son’s autism diagnosis. What began as a collection of personal reflections has blossomed into a moving theatrical production that has already captivated audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe, earning praise for its authenticity and emotional depth.

“This play is not just focused on the challenges of autism; it’s about the dynamics of an ordinary family trying to cope with everyday life as well as an autism diagnosis being thrown into the mix!” 

The story follows  Joanne Riley, a mother who always sensed her son Jackson was different. He rarely spoke, struggled to connect with other children, and demanded constant attention. When Jackson is diagnosed with autism, the family rallies to support him—until Grandma moves in to “help out,” and everything begins to unravel in unexpected and comical ways. 

The production also features its writer Alison Stanley herself in the role of Joanne, alongside her real-life son Jay, who makes his acting debut as Jackson. Their on-stage chemistry adds a deeply personal layer to the performance.
