Go behind the scenes of Moulin Rouge! The Musical at Liverpool Empire this summer

The team behind Moulin Rouge! The Musical is giving Liverpool audiences a rare chance to discover what really happens behind the curtain.

Get Technical! Behind the Curtain of Moulin Rouge! The Musical will take place at Liverpool Empire Theatre on Tuesday 28 July, offering theatre fans and aspiring industry professionals an exclusive insight into the backstage magic that brings the spectacular production to life.

The special event follows successful sessions held in London, Manchester, Birmingham and cities around the world, giving attendees the opportunity to hear directly from the show’s backstage and technical teams.

Visitors will learn how departments including wigs, wardrobe, sound, stage management and more work together to create one of the world’s biggest musicals, while also getting a glimpse of some of the show’s technical secrets.

Producer Carmen Pavlovic said: “Backstage is where all the magic happens.

“We’re thrilled to reach even more people with Get Technical as part of our World Tour. By showcasing Get Technical in Liverpool, a creative and vibrant city, we hope young people and theatre lovers will be inspired to consider the many potential career pathways into working in live theatre.”

Designed to inspire the next generation of theatre professionals, the event will also feature personal stories from members of the backstage team, who will share their own career journeys and offer advice on breaking into the industry.

As well as those considering a future in theatre, the event is expected to appeal to fans keen to find out what goes on beyond the spotlight and discover the expertise needed to stage a major West End and touring production.

Previous attendees have praised the initiative for opening their eyes to the wide range of careers available within live performance, from technical and creative roles to production and stage management.
