Everton fans are being asked to plan their journeys in advance as excitement builds for the club’s first-ever Premier League match at their brand new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

More than 52,000 supporters are expected to fill the stands of Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday 24 August, as the Toffees take on Brighton & Hove Albion in a 2pm kick-off. It’ll be the first competitive fixture at the club’s new home on the waterfront, following three successful test events earlier this year.

To help make sure the historic day runs as smoothly as possible, a transport plan has been put in place by a working group led by Everton, alongside Liverpool City Council, Merseyrail, local bus operators, Merseyside Police and the Combined Authority.

Supporters are being encouraged to plan ahead and think carefully about how they’re getting to and from the ground, especially as fans begin to adjust to a brand new matchday routine.

There’ll be four shuttle bus services running to and from the stadium, picking up from Liverpool city centre, Bootle and Kirkby bus stations – with parking available close to each pick-up point. Normal bus routes also serve stops within walking distance of the ground.

If you’re travelling by train, Merseyrail will run 15-minute services on the Southport, Ormskirk, Hunts Cross and Headbolt Lane lines. Sandhills, Bank Hall and Moorfields stations are all walkable from the stadium.

There’ll also be special Mersey Ferry sailings direct from Pier Head to Seacombe – and if enough people use them, these could become a regular part of the matchday experience.

For those who are able, walking or cycling from the city centre is also encouraged, with safe walking routes and secure cycle parking available at the stadium.

Fans are advised to check with individual travel operators for the latest information and timetables, and a full overview of travel advice is available on the Everton page of the Merseytravel website.

Cllr Steve Foulkes, Chair of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Transport Committee, said:

“This is a huge moment for Everton and for North Liverpool. We want to make sure fans get the best possible matchday experience while keeping things safe and smooth for everyone, including local residents. The response to the final test event was fantastic – now we just need fans to keep up the good work by planning ahead for the big day.”

Everton will be sharing further information about matchday travel, parking and fan experience with ticket holders in the lead-up to the Brighton game.
