Tate Liverpool + RIBA North is shining a light on the power of community, architecture and football this October with two special talks from leading artists, architects and local creatives.

As the venue launches its new Home Ground: The Architecture of Football display, visitors can look forward to conversations exploring the spaces we share, from grassroots pitches to Liverpool’s most iconic streets.

On Thursday 16 October, artist Neville Gabie and Liverpool photographer Emma Case will come together for Home Ground: Stadiums, Supporters and Spaces for Play. Gabie will discuss his long-running project Grassroots and Tarmac, an archive of over 1,000 football photographs captured in 40 countries, all framed from the penalty spot. He’ll also reflect on his past work with Tate Liverpool and his ongoing connection to the city.

Emma Case will share the story behind RED, her community archive project celebrating Liverpool fans’ photos and memories, as well as her latest venture, The RED Caravan, a mini mobile museum designed to bring those stories to life across the city.

Then on Wednesday 29 October, Turner Prize-winning architecture collective Assemble will reunite with Hazel Tilley and Eleanor Lee from Granby Four Streets to mark the tenth anniversary of their award-winning collaboration.

Assemble’s groundbreaking work with residents of Toxteth helped transform derelict homes into vibrant community spaces, redefining what architecture can achieve when driven by people and place. The group will also discuss their new book Building Collective, which charts a decade of their projects around the world.

Both talks promise fascinating insight into creativity, collaboration and community in Liverpool and beyond.
