You can’t beat a trip to the theatre for pure escapism, whether you’re taking the kids, going on a date night or out with friends.

The Floral Pavilion in New Brighton’s got a fabulous line-up of shows this season, and there’s something for everyone from murder mystery to music, comedy and K-Pop!

Get booking something to really look forward to, here are 11 shows you can see at Floral Pavilion this spring …


Theatre

Murder at Midnight (February 24-28)

Combine comedy with a crime caper and a brilliant cast and you’ve got Murder at Midnight where the action centres around gangster Jonny The Cyclops, a suitcase full of cash, a stash of deadly weapons, and an infamous unsolved murder. This show is not your average murder mystery, think Inside No. 9 meets Knives Out. Starring TV favourites Jason Durr, Susie Blake, Max Bowden and Katie McGlynn. Someone’s dead. Someone’s lying. Everyone’s a nightmare.

Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story (March 10-14)

The music of the legendary Buddy Holly lives on, more than 60 years after his death, and this feelgood musical captures his best-loved songs and the story of his life. A West End smash hit that’s become the most successful rock & roll musical of all time, Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story brings a multi-talented cast to New Brighton as part of a major UK tour.

Sherlock Holmes & the Hunt for Moriarty (March 26-28)

Fans of mystery and mind games are in for a treat with this show because it features them in abundance. Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson face a race against time and a nemesis which threatens the foundations of the monarchy and the government in a world premiere bringing together all the trademark Sherlock elements of intrigue and adventure.

Hillsborough: One Boy’s Story of a Tragedy (April 25)

Hillsborough was devastating for so many, Blues as well as Reds, and Hillsborough One Boy’s Story of a Tragedy is a poignant telling through the eyes of one young lad who lost his dad. 37 years since the disaster which took 97 lives, this play – on for one night only – is about family, loss, and grief, and a powerful reminder that we will never forget. 

The Importance of Being Oscar (April 30-May 2)

Oscar Wilde was one of the most brilliant writers of his time, as well known for his controversial private life as for his words. Following a critically-acclaimed London run, this one-man show sees Alastair Whatley as Wilde, recalling his journey from flamboyant socialite to prison, with his famous wit and extracts of his best-known works.


Comedy

Stewart Lee (May 14)

There’s straightforward stand-up and then there’s Stewart Lee vs The Man-Wulf, which is something different entirely! In this brand-new show, Lee – in the guise of a comic whose style is in danger of being left behind by his stadium-filling rivals – takes the challenge to unleash his inner werewolf and resurrect a once award-winning career.

Alfie Moore: Acopalypse Now – March 7

It might feel like the world’s in a bit of a mess right now, but Alfie Moore is just the man to put it to rights. The police officer turned comedian knows all about dialling down the heat in difficult situations, and his Acopalypse Now show turns that into laughs, navigating a way through everything from rising crime and global warming to AI. 


Music

Jason Donovan (March 9)

His Neighbours castmate Kylie is a pop icon and Jason Donovan’s career, which has spanned music, theatre, film and TV, is ‘Doin’ Fine’ too after 35 years in the spotlight. Jason Donovan’s Doin’ Fine tour played to more than 40,000 fans last year, so now he’s doing an encore full of pop hits and songs from stage roles including Joseph and Rocky Horror.

Kate Rusby (May 5)

For a night of music that’s sure to lift your spirits ready for a new season, singer Kate Rusby brings the perfect blend of beautiful melodic vocals, laughter and a gentle northern charm that’s like warm sunshine on stage. Kate is back on tour with Springshine, performing a mix of old favourites and fresh songs.

The Dinosaur That Pooped (February 16)

The Dinosaur That Pooped

Adapted from best-selling books by Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter, The Dinosaur That Pooped – a Rock Show is a roaringly fun time for the whole family. It features new songs by the McFly bandmates and follows the mis-adventures of Dino and Danny as they try to land tickets to see their favourite rock band.

K-Pop All Stars Tribute (May 19)

K-Pop is a global phenomenon, taking over the charts, becoming Netflix’s most popular film of all time and picking up an Oscar nomination. Get your lightsticks ready because this energetic visually spectacular live show celebrates the music, artists and choreography with hits from Blackpink, NewJeans, Katseye, BTS, Itzy, Stray Kids, Twice, Jung Kook, and more.
