New performing arts conservatoire opens inside iconic Port of Liverpool Building
2 hours ago
A brand-new performing arts conservatoire has opened its doors in one of Liverpool’s most recognisable waterfront landmarks.
Acclaimed choreographer and teacher Nazene Langfield has officially launched NDHQ inside the historic Port of Liverpool Building at the Pier Head — placing elite performing arts training right at the heart of the city’s world-famous Three Graces.
NDHQ brings together two respected institutions under one roof: Dynamix Performing Arts College and the Nazene Danielle School of Performing Arts, creating what’s being described as a new centre of excellence for the Liverpool City Region’s most talented young performers.
A new home for elite training

Dynamix Performing Arts College, previously based at Wavertree Technology Park, has been established for more than 25 years and has built a strong reputation for preparing students for major professional opportunities including West End productions and UK touring shows.
The college provides more performance opportunities than any other institution in Merseyside. Its students act as the professional ensemble for Regal Entertainments’ pantomimes at St Helens Theatre Royal and the Epstein Theatre, performing to audiences of more than 100,000 people each year and earning nominations at the UK Pantomime Awards.
Dynamix dancers also regularly appear at major live events including the Clubland Festival and Reminisce. Graduates have gone on to perform internationally in productions with Royal Caribbean, as well as on Carnival, Celebrity, Princess and Costa cruise lines.
Alongside this, the Nazene Danielle School of Performing Arts offers a full-time alternative to mainstream education for exceptionally talented students aged eight to 16.
Founded after Nazene’s own students spoke about challenges within traditional education, the school blends academic study with intensive professional arts training. Mornings focus on core GCSE subjects, while afternoons and evenings are dedicated to developing skills across all areas of performing arts, with a curriculum centred on creativity, wellbeing and individual talent.
A lifetime in performing arts

Nazene Langfield brings almost 35 years of experience in the industry. She trained under Annette Thomson at Liverpool’s renowned Elliott Clarke school, becoming its youngest ever accepted pupil, and later developed her craft as a member of the National Youth Music Theatre.
She made her Liverpool Empire debut at just seven years old, appearing alongside Neighbours actor Stefan Dennis in Robin Hood and Babes in the Wood, earning the nickname “Mighty Mouse” for her powerful singing voice.
Her early career also included roles in Whistle Down the Wind at London’s Riverside Studios, Her Benny, and the National Youth Music Theatre’s production of Bugsy Malone in Edinburgh.
After completing teacher training at Merseyside Dance and Drama, Nazene went on to build a 25-year career as a choreographer, teacher and adjudicator, working with leading competitions including the UK Dance Class Championships. She also leads international training courses for the Imperial Society for Teachers of Dancing.
Bringing talent to the waterfront

Speaking about the move, Nazene said relocating to the Port of Liverpool Building marks a proud new chapter.
She said she has dedicated her life to nurturing Liverpool’s talent and that the iconic setting allows the organisation to elevate its work in a space that reflects the creative heartbeat of the city.
NDHQ is now fully operational at the Pier Head, offering a landmark home for the next generation of performers.
