Liverpool’s LMA dancers power into Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals

A group of Liverpool dance students have taken the national spotlight by storm after securing a place in the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.

Students from LMA Liverpool delivered a striking ensemble performance during the show’s auditions, which aired on Saturday 21 February, impressing judges and viewers alike.

The routine featured a cohort of dancers aged 19–24 and focused entirely on unity and collaboration. Choreographed by internationally renowned artist Sadeck Berrabah, also known as Murmuration, the piece was deliberately created without soloists — mirroring the demands of professional and screen-based dance work.

Leading the audition was student Ruby-Leigh Wilson, alongside Charlie Newton, Michael Davies and Alexandra Lowe, who all played key roles in shaping the performance and representing the academy.

Filmed at the iconic Winter Gardens Blackpool, the audition followed an intense rehearsal schedule that ran alongside the students’ undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Rehearsals began at LMA’s Liverpool campus before moving to Blackpool for on-structure sessions ahead of the live filming.

Students described the experience as transformative, crediting the process with strengthening both their confidence and ambition within the television and commercial dance industries.

One dancer said: “Hearing what the judges said about our performance made us want to push even harder. It reinforced why we’re doing this.”

Since the audition aired, the group has also been filming with the show back on home turf in Liverpool, including scenes at the Royal Liver Building.

Kemal Kuguloglu, Head of Dance at LMA Liverpool, said the moment marks a huge milestone for the academy.

He said: “The level of professionalism, commitment and teamwork the students have shown has been outstanding. The piece was built around collaboration, which is such an important part of the industry, and the way they delivered that on such a large stage is something we’re incredibly proud of.”

With a place in the semi-finals now secured, the Liverpool dancers head into the next stage of the competition as one of the standout acts of the series — flying the flag for the city on a national platform.
