ONE FINE DAY granted licence to host legal wedding ceremonies in historic Cotton Exchange
2 hours ago
A Liverpool venue steeped in history can now officially host legal wedding ceremonies after being granted a marriage licence.
ONE FINE DAY, located inside the Grade II listed Cotton Exchange Building on Old Hall Street, can now legally officiate weddings on site.
The news means couples will be able to hold both their legal ceremony and celebrations under the same roof, with ceremonies permitted across the venue’s ground floor space, mezzanine level and its adjoining café space, Little LEAF.
For decades the Cotton Exchange building was home to Liverpool’s registry office and coroner’s courts, before services moved to St George’s Hall in 2012. At the time, around 100,000 people a year visited the building to register births, deaths and marriages.

Now the historic venue has come full circle, once again becoming a place where couples can legally tie the knot.
The building itself has been carefully restored over the past decade, with ONE FINE DAY’s main events space still showcasing original features including large marble pillars crafted from single pieces of stone. Couples can also make their entrance through a private doorway on the cobbled street outside.
Owner Natalie Haywood says securing the licence has been something the team have been working towards for some time.

She said the approval will allow the venue to host every part of a couple’s wedding day, from the ceremony through to the celebrations, adding that the team have already hosted hundreds of weddings at the venue and at sister site OH ME OH MY.
With weddings already booked throughout this year and into 2027, the new licence is expected to make the venue even busier as more couples choose to celebrate their big day in the city centre.
Alongside weddings, ONE FINE DAY is also a popular spot for corporate events and private parties. Meanwhile Little LEAF offers brunch, lunch and Sunday roasts, alongside a wide selection of loose-leaf teas in a relaxed social setting.
