Southport Flower show announces TV Chef as Cookery Theatre headliner
2 hours ago
Southport Flower Show are delighted to announce that Briony May Williams has been confirmed as this year’s compere for the Cookery Theatre, proudly sponsored by Nationwide Produce.
Briony will be joining us across all four show days, bringing her warmth, expertise, and signature enthusiasm to the stage. In addition to hosting the theatre, she’ll also be stepping into the spotlight for two special live cooking sessions on Thursday at 11am and 2pm — not to be missed!
After years of baking at home and cultivating her creativity and skill, Briony first came to the public’s attention as she launched onto our screens during nine stressful weeks in the tent on the 2018 series of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4. Progressing through the competition to the semi-final, Briony’s humour and warmth, coupled with her resilience and ingenuity saw her become a firm favourite with the audience.
Briony is one of the presenters of Escape To The Country (BBC One) and one of the experts on Morning Live (BBC One). Her other credits include Food Unwrapped (Channel 4), Would I Lie To You? (BBC One), Celebrity Mastermind (BBC One), Pointless Celebrities (BBC One), The Weakest Link (BBC One), Celebrity Bridge Of Lies (BBC One), House Of Games (BBC Two), Strictly: It Takes Two (BBC Two), Christmas University Challenge (BBC Two) and The Last Leg (Channel 4). She’s also guest-hosted shows on BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Radio Somerset.
Briony has worked with brands such as Cuisinart, FitBit, Wallis, Amazon Prime Video, Dr Oetker, KitchenAid, Gousto, Tefal and Hollands Pies. She has also appeared at The Cake and Bake Show, The Big Feastival, Thame Food Festival, Bishop Auckland Food Festival and Chris Evans’ Carfest amongst others.
In 2021 and 2022, Briony was named on The Shaw Trust’s Disability Power 100 List of the UK’s most influential disabled people. Briony is also an ambassador for Reach, Bristol Mind and Paul’s Place.
Having studied Spanish and French at Durham University, achieving a 2:1 with a distinction in Spoken Spanish, Briony went on to travel the world before qualifying as a secondary school teacher of Spanish and French, earning her Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the University of Bristol.
Briony will be joining an incredible line-up of special guests at this year’s show, including Adam Frost (Thursday), Arit Anderson (Friday), Phil Vickery (Friday), Anton Du Beke, and children’s TV favourite Andy Day (Saturday).
