The Wirral Award is a special civic honour that highlights organisations and individuals across the borough for outstanding accomplishments to the community.
The RNLI provides a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland coasts, with 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands.
Celebrating the long-standing commitment to saving lives at sea from Hoylake RNLI, the Mayor of Wirral honoured the station with the prestigious Award.
Taking place on Wednesday, 10th March at Wallasey Town Hall, Hoylake RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager Richard Martindale, alongside crew members Ian and Tracy Davies and Abbie Sanders, attended the ceremony hosted by the Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Brian Kenny.
RNLI volunteers accepted The Wirral Award proudly on behalf of the Hoylake Lifeboat Station. The station has been serving the community and saving lives since 1803.
During the ceremony, a Wirral Award was also presented to members of the Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team.
Richard Martindale, Hoylake RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, said:
‘It was a privilege to receive this recognition from the Mayor of Wirral on behalf of Hoylake RNLI. I would like to thank Wirral Council for inviting our volunteers to such a wonderful evening. We were proud to be recognised alongside our friends and colleagues at Wirral Coastguard and other awardees who have served the Wirral with distinction.’
