Carragher and Szoboszlai team up to raise thousands for young people in poverty
3 hours ago
Jamie Carragher and Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai have joined forces to help raise thousands of pounds for young people living in poverty.
The pair came together at this week’s Football For Change fundraising lunch, which brought stars from football, business and entertainment into one room to support life-changing opportunities for disadvantaged young people.
The initiative, launched in 2021 by Carragher alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Coady, focuses on funding programmes in education, training and sport. Since its launch, it has supported hundreds of grassroots organisations across the UK.
Szoboszlai’s involvement comes during an impressive season for the Reds midfielder, who continues to make an impact both on and off the pitch.
Carragher praised the Hungarian international for stepping up and supporting the cause.
He said: “Dominik has had a fantastic season and you can already see what a leader he is on the pitch.

“But what’s just as important is what he’s doing off it. For him to come here, get involved and support young people having tough starts in life is incredible. That’s leadership – on and off the field.
“He’s got a massive future at Liverpool Football Club and this shows exactly the kind of person he is.”
Carragher also suggested the midfielder could have what it takes to captain Liverpool in the future.
Szoboszlai said getting involved was an easy decision.
He said: “It’s great to be part of something that is helping young people who need it most. I love Liverpool and my life here, so supporting young people who need assistance is really important to me.”
Money raised from the event will go directly towards projects helping young people build brighter futures, as Football For Change continues to use the power of football to drive real change.
BRIT Award winner James Bay also performed at the event.
