New Indian restaurant White Tiger set to open on Liverpool’s Kings Dock this May
2 hours ago
A brand new contemporary Indian restaurant is getting ready to open its doors on Liverpool’s Kings Dock this May, bringing a fresh and flavour-led take on Indian dining to the waterfront.
White Tiger is the brainchild of Merseyside-based doctors and long-time friends Meenal Abhyankar and Dhanya Kalathil, who are set to introduce a new kind of Indian dining experience to the city.
After more than 20 years working in medicine across the Liverpool City Region, the pair are now turning their attention to hospitality creating a passion project inspired by their love of authentic Indian food and the flavours of home.
The idea for White Tiger grew from their friendship, which began at the school gates as their children became friends. Bonding over shared experiences and a love of food, they spotted a gap in Liverpool’s dining scene for Indian cuisine that truly reflects the diversity and depth of dishes across the subcontinent.

Now, they’re bringing that vision to life on Kings Dock.
At the heart of White Tiger will be a standout menu created in collaboration with award-winning chefs Shipra Khanna and Anahita Dhondy. Diners can expect a mix of bold regional dishes, modern Indian cooking and global influences, including Hakka street food.
Every dish has been designed to balance flavour, texture and storytelling, offering something familiar with a fresh twist.
The restaurant itself promises a warm and welcoming space, with interiors, music and service all designed to create an experience that goes beyond just the food.
The name White Tiger reflects the concept behind the venue, something rare and distinctive as well as the journey of its founders, who are balancing careers in medicine with a new venture in hospitality.
Co-founder Meenal Abhyankar said the pair wanted to create something different for the city.

She said: “We’ve built our lives and careers in Merseyside and feel incredibly grateful to the city, but we always felt there was something missing when it came to Indian food.
“We wanted to create a space that really reflects the variety and elegance of the dishes we grew up with.”
Co-founder Dhanya Kalathil added: “This has been a journey built on friendship and a shared vision. We didn’t want to open just another Indian restaurant, but something that feels true to its roots while still being welcoming to everyone.
“Liverpool felt like the perfect place to bring this to life.”
White Tiger is set to open in May, with more details to be revealed soon.
