Day 200 of Liverpool teen’s mission to sing with Zach Bryan

A Liverpool teenager’s TikTok campaign to sing with Zach Bryan at his Anfield gig has hit day 200 – and he’s determined not to give up!

19-year-old Louis Gibney, who’s a huge fan of the American country superstar, has been posting his songs every day since the middle of November last year.

He’s aiming to catch the attention of Zach, his band or his production crew and land an invitation to join him up on stage on Friday June 12.

At previous gigs, Zach has got other musicians up from the crowd to perform the song Heading South, so Louis – who snapped up tickets for the gig as soon as they went on sale – hopes the Liverpool date will be his chance.

And he’s now got a growing band of supporters getting behind his bid.

Louis, from Litherland, explains: “It’s been a crazy 200 days, I’ve had lots of comments and people who’ve obviously been following what I’m doing over that time. I’ve built up a bit of a relationship with them and they keep supporting me and encouraging me to keep going.

“I actually sang in Anfield the week the first Guide article about my campaign came out and a couple from Mid-Wales came up to me and asked how I was getting on! It was so random that they knew about me but in a good way, so it’s been really nice that people I don’t know are genuinely rooting for me.”

Louis, who combines his job at Parliament Square Coffee in Liverpool city centre with gigging at weekends, says he’s tried “every possible avenue” to get noticed by Zach Bryan or one of his band, but so far without success.

“I found an email that was supposedly his management and I emailed them, and I’ve been tagging all the band members in my posts but I’ve not heard anything back from them.

“I’ve posted every single day so there are 200 videos on my TikTok. When I started off I was planning to do every Zach Bryan song but then I got to about day 100 and I was doing songs that hardly anyone would have heard of.  I decided to go back on the cycle because it’s more appealing to do songs that everyone knows so that’s what I’ve been doing ever since.”

Louis says he’ll be standing at the Anfield concert with a group of mates and his younger brother, while his mum, dad and sister are in the Kop.

“We’ll be right down at the front and, if I’ve not heard anything by then, I’m hoping to take a sign, that’ll be my last throw of the dice.

“I’ve been in touch with fan services asking what’s the biggest sign I can bring in and I told them I’d only put it up between songs because I don’t want to ruin it for other fans.

“I’ve been keeping tabs on his tour since about March, so every morning after the gig I’ll wake up and check to see if he sang the song and if someone got up for it. At most gigs people have done so I know he is still doing it, I’m just hoping he does it at Anfield.

“He’s my favourite artist, I started the campaign before the tickets came out and then got them not long after, so either way – even if I don’t get on stage – I’m going to enjoy the day. This would just be an amazing bonus.”
