Prescot is celebrating Christmas early as it is named the winner of a national competition.
The town centre has won ÂŁ10,000 worth of Christmas lights and a musical performance for the switch on event, in a popular contest organised by Revive and Thrive.
Prescot Business Club entered the competition on behalf of the town centre, with a short video which focussed on the fascinating history and heritage of the town.
Prescot was shortlisted alongside ten other places; Cambridge, Chippenham, Grimsby, Kidsgrove, Northam, Putney, Soho Road, Swaffham and Willesden Green. It was announced on 5 September that Prescot stood out from the other entries and was named the winning town.
