10 Reasons why you should visit Liverpool with your kids
6 years ago
Our city has so much to offer young visitors, all year round.
Famed for its nightlife, stunning architecture and maritime history, Liverpool is a brilliant city break destination, but it’s not just fun for the grown ups. Boasting tonnes of green space, free attractions, jaw-dropping events (did someone say GIANTS?) and affordable, fun activities, our city is one big playground, just waiting to be explored. From dining to skate parks, pirates to super cars and all the music festivals you can handle, this is why you should visit Liverpool with your kids and make some incredible memories….
1 – Free Stuff!
We’ve got more museums, art galleries and visitor centres than you can shake a city map at and the best bit is, they’re free! Explore our city museums, galleries and visitor centres and get hands on with history, crafts and of course, music! From free film screenings, to making your own works of art, puppet shows and dressing up, you’ll find something to keep little hands busy, without spending a penny. More on Liverpool Museums here.
2 – Adventures on the High Seas (or Dock!)
Our city’s maritime history is fascinating but little ones might prefer to know what they can get up to on the Dock now rather than hundreds of years ago! Royal Albert Dock Liverpool is a hive of daily activity. From festivals such as Pirate on the Dock to dragon boat racing and paddle boarding at Liverpool Watersports Centre, exploring The Danny and Zebu ships and who doesn’t love a little trip on the Ferry ‘cross the Mersey? All aboard! Click here for what’s on at the Albert Dock.
3 – Fresh Air Fun
Liverpool is blessed with tonnes of green space and beaches. From Jumping Jacks parties at the beautiful Palm House, Sefton Park to the high ropes and skate park at Otterspool and making dens in the woodland at Croxteth Country Park, if you’ve got the bike/scooter/skates, we’ve got miles of pathways to keep you entertained. The Reader at Calderstones offers up tonnes of story time fun and did you know you can build sandcastles here too? Formby, Crosby and over on the Wirral, there’s enough sand to build a whole new city! More on our city parks and beaches here.
4 – Big Taste, Small Price
When it comes to feeding your rabble, affordability and quality don’t always match up, but here in Liverpool, we can offer something for every diet and budget. From make your own pizzas at Gusto, to kids eat free at Jamie’s Italian, £5 lunch boxes stuffed full with buttermilk chicken from Yard & Coop plus ramen, sushi, curry and burgers with Cuppa Chups lollipops in the top. Who’s hungry?
5 – We’ll Take You To New Heights
Liverpool is a visually stunning city, our skyline known and recognised the world over, but not many kids we know are that into architecture! We can however, give them a birds eye view. See our city from the Radio City Tower, the roof top terrace at Central Library, or if you’re feeling really brave, the very top of the Anglican Cathedral Bell Tower to catch a sunset they’ll never forget.
