New restaurant to bring a taste of the Med & Pacific to Beetham Plaza
7 years ago
Silk Rd has officially opened its doors to the public in the heart of Liverpool City Centre.
After enjoying success with its Heswall site, Silk Rd’s expansion into Liverpool’s Commercial District is guaranteed to offer a unique dining experience from its refurbished Beetham Plaza location.
Taking inspiration from the Silk Rd trail, which spans three continents from the Pacific to the Mediterranean, the venue serves up authentic cuisine while its interior comprises genuine furnishings sourced from the likes of Italy and Turkey to name a few.
Owner Javier Mellado said: “Having first opened Silk Rd in Heswall in the summer of 2017, we have already gained an impressive reputation in Merseyside and are delighted to be opening our doors in the heart of the city centre. The location in Beetham Plaza fits the Silk Rd concept perfectly; a hidden gem within the city reminiscent of Greece or Spain.
Being situated nearby popular shopping destinations in Liverpool and in close proximity to the city’s Business District makes us accessible to everyone whether they are looking to join us for a business lunch or a meal with family and friends. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the site is the fantastic views of the Liver Building, which can be enjoyed from our Bedouin-style outdoor terrace.
“The launch of our second site in Liverpool brings with it a number of exciting additions to our popular menu, which has been created exclusively to capture the very best cuisine from the Silk Rd trail. Combining traditional street food with mezze and tapas, our dishes can be enjoyed as a lunch time treat or can be aptly paired with one of our signature gin combinations for a weekend celebration.”
To celebrate the launch of its second location, Silk Rd’s city centre site will offer customer favourites including Persian Lamb coated with Rosemary, Garlic, Sea Salt and Black Peppercorn and Yaour Tlou Savoury Beef Kebabs topped with a Greek Yogurt and Spiced Tomato Sauce dusted with Paprika. New menu items include Red Snapper, Red Lentil Curry and a delicious Cauliflower Steak, Uzbekistan style.
The cosy yet contemporary space offers a 140-seated capacity over 4,000 sq. ft. including a mezzanine level ideal for private dining, an outdoor terrace with views of the city as well as an in-house bar area. The exclusive restaurant and bar space also lends itself to events and occasions ideal for weddings, birthday parties and corporate events to name a few.
Owner Chris Williams added: “We have always had ambitions to open a second site in Liverpool and following the success of Heswall we are fortunate that we have been able to realise our dream so quickly. Customers can enjoy the relaxed yet stylish atmosphere and with small plates and tapas style sharing platters proving ever-popular, we felt that now was the time to introduce the public to the Silk Rd concept. Our dishes capture the authenticity of the Silk Rd trail, with organic and fresh ingredients playing a huge role in our menu. We aim to offer a true taste of Asia through to the Med and to encourage our diners to try new and exciting dishes.”
To mark its opening, Silk Rd is also offering 50% off food throughout the month of January.
