A local radio DJ is being ‘jailed’ and only you can help to set him free

Baz Todd will send shockwaves across the airwaves as he gets ‘jailed’ for a host of heinous crimes as part of the Jail and Bail fundraiser for Queenscourt Hospice this Friday (15th September 2023).

The DJ for In Demand Radio in Liverpool is now in demand with the police as they require £999 in bail money for the charity before they will allow his release. The only record Baz will be getting this week is a criminal one.

His days were numbered when eagle-eyed police detectives spotted that his getaway van had the words ‘Baz Todd Events’ emblazoned on the side of it.

Baz, who lives in Southport with his wife and three children, has never been one to do anything quietly. The smooth criminal is known to headline huge DJ events and often runs the Fan Zone at Liverpool Football Club.

His rap sheet includes being a keyboard warrior on Facebook, but is humorous with it – and that he loves to wear a trademark canvas shoe.

He’ll be joining the chain gang and playing some jailhouse rock this Friday unless you can donate towards his £999 Queenscourt target to help bail him out here.

Baz, who also DJs for Mighty FM in Southport, said:

“I am looking forward to taking part in a brilliant local event that is raising money for a local charity that affects us all in some way.

“Jail and Bail is for Queenscourt Hospice, which I am sure everyone in the local area has been involved with in some way over the years. They do an amazing job in our community.

“They cared for my wife’s Mum. I know so many people whose loved ones have been cared for by the incredible staff at Queenscourt, either at the hospice, or at home.

“It is great to be able to do something to help Queenscourt and give something back.”

Baz has a familiar voice that many people across the region will be familiar with and he’ll need all the support he can get to secure his release this Friday. He is among a dozen local people who will be ‘arrested’ and then ‘locked up’ in the jail cells at the former Southport Magistrates’ Court (now Access Point) on Friday. He will undergo a series of challenges along the way before he can escape Fulsome Prison.

He said: “I was at Rock FM for 12 years, I have worked at Capital Radio, I have worked at various radio stations.

“I DJ at festivals and events, and organise events as well, including lots of weddings, birthdays and other celebrations.

“I am currently at In Demand Radio, which broadcasts across Liverpool and the North West.”

The 45-year-old, who is married to wife, Joanne, with two seven-year-old twin boys and a 14-year-old son, is hoping his family can either help secure his escape – or make prison visiting times.

He said: “When I heard about Jail and Bail I thought it sounded like a great way of raising some much needed funds for Queenscourt Hospice.

“My family thinks there are lots of crimes I could be locked up for – bad Dad jokes, bad fashion sense – take your pick!

“I’m really keen to raise the £999 I need to get out of jail!”

Every penny raised through Jail & Bail will go towards Queenscourt Hospice, which provides care and support for residents across West Lancashire, Southport and Formby, 365 days a year.

Queenscourt is staging this brand new fundraiser in collaboration with Stand Up For Southport 10am-3pm on Friday, 15th September 2023 at Access Point, based inside the former Southport Magistrates’ Court building, on Albert Road in Southport.

Queenscourt Hospice provides access to specialist palliative care either at home (including care homes), hospital or in Queenscourt via the Inpatient Unit or as an Outpatient.
