A new woodland retreat for dogs is opening in Knowsley

A new woodland retreat for dogs is opening in Knowsley, with luxury hotel rooms and lots of nature walks.
Bluebell Paws Retreat will feature botanical-themed boarding and doggy daycare, all set in Bluebell Woods.
It will have 29 hotel rooms, each with their own TV, and walk-in showers so furry guests can get cleaned up after a muddy roll around!
The nature-inspired retreat has been created by Stacey Langton who launched The Pawsome Hotel last year.
The home-from-home boutique hotel and daycare in Roby has proved so popular with owners and their pampered pooches that she has decided to expand the business.
Bluebell Paws Retreat will be on a much bigger scale, hosting around 40 for doggy daycare and more guests for overnight and longer, with no minimum stay needed.
A huge amount of outdoor space means it can have a dedicated puppy zone, and two further play areas with tunnels, pools, sandpits and a Wendy house.
There’ll also be an additional outside area which can be used for training or puppy yoga as well as a grooming room available to rent.

Stacey says, after the success of The Pawsome Hotel, this was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up:
“We currently have around 20 small dogs for daycare and we’re licenced for nine to sleep in Roby and that’s been unbelievable, it’s taken off much quicker than I expected.
“Bluebell Paws Retreat will give us the chance to do so much more, and to take larger dogs here as well as small because they deserve luxury too.
“In our botanical boarding, all the rooms where the dogs stay are air conditioned and heated, with their own TVs so they can watch dogs or kids’ programmes.
“There’s a kitchen at the end of each row where we store and prepare all the food and a walk-in shower facility so if we’ve been for a walk in the woods and it’s muddy they can just go straight in there and we can shower them down.
“Because it’s set in Bluebell Woods, it’s surrounded by greenery, trees and nature, and we have access straight to the woods for walks which is a big attraction.”
Ahead of its official opening, Stacey is holding trial sessions and meet and greets to give owners a first look at the retreat and ensure that dogs aren’t reactive around others.
Once Bluebell Paws Retreat is up and running, Stacey already has plans to make it even better.
“We want to create Liverpool’s first disabled dog stay and play in an area of the woods,” she explains. “Then hopefully this winter we can build an indoor arena and swimming pool where we have pool parties for dogs and do hydrotherapy sessions for disabled dogs.”
