Alder Hey is asking people to buy virtual eggs to make sure its young patients have a cracking Easter

Alder Hey is asking for donations of ‘virtual’ eggs to make sure all of its patients have a cracking Easter while they’re in hospital.

With restrictions and uncertainty still around, Alder Hey children’s hospital’s charity has requested that physical donations of chocolate Easter Eggs are delivered only by prior arrangement again this year.

But to make it even easier – and keep patients ‘super-duper safe’ – it is requesting that people buy a virtual Easter Egg for £2 instead.

That, it says, will help them to make a massive difference at such a special time of year, and put smiles on lots of children’s faces.

“Our families, visitors and staff regularly tell us that there is a special feeling when they walk into Alder Hey; that is the ‘magic’, and when we all pull together we can help make hospital life brighter for our brave, young patients,” says a spokesperson.

“From ward musicians, comics and art workshops to the latest distraction technology, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital strives to provide the best patient experience possible, even at the most difficult of times.”

And certainly at times of celebration!

Alder Hey Children’s Charity says it’s committed to funding projects, technologies and experiences that go above and beyond what is normally available on the NHS, and the purchase of even one of the £2 virtual eggs is part of that.

It says it’s been bowled by everyone’s generosity over the last couple of years with no child left disappointed.

And it wants to continue to spread the happiness this year with a chocolate Easter Egg, or gift alternative, for every single child who’s there.

Fiona Ashcroft, chief executive of Alder Hey, adds: “Each £2 virtual egg donation helps us guarantee a chocolate egg, or alternative, for every child being treated at Alder Hey over Easter, and brings excitement to the wards and big smiles to our young patients’ faces.”

If you prefer you can TEXT ALDEREGGS TO 70085 followed by your donation amount. Texts cost the donation amount plus one standard rate message.
