BeBreastSavvy roadshow returns promoting breast screening across North Liverpool
BeBreastSavvy

After its resounding success last year, the BeBreastSavvy roadshow is making a comeback, bringing vital information about breast screening to communities across north Liverpool.

Hundreds attended last year’s BeBreastSavvy roadshow, learning about the importance of regular breast checks for both women and men. This year, the roadshow is set to visit ten new venues, predominantly in north Liverpool, over the coming months.

The BeBreastSavvy events aim to educate and engage the community about the significance of breast screening. Attendees will receive essential information on breast screening and can even rebook missed mammogram appointments on the spot. For those needing transportation, the BNENC, located in Breckfield and North Everton, can arrange rides to Broadgreen Hospital for the tests.

In addition to informative talks on how to check your breasts, the roadshows promise a mix of fun activities. Participants can join in on Boob Bingo, sew their own boob pin cushions, or even bradazzle a bra.

Adding a touch of local flair, Liverpool TV actor Eithne Brown will appear on screen reciting a poem about what to expect at a breast screening appointment.

Nicky Murphy, Care Coordinator at Anfield and Everton Primary Care Network, said:

“It’s free, it’s local, and breast cancer is Liverpool’s biggest cancer, so come along and bring your mum, your sister, your mates, and your Nan. Let’s change that statistic!”

Eluned Hughes, Campaigns Development Manager at Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance, which is helping fund the events, said:

“These roadshows were incredibly popular last year, encouraging women across Liverpool not to ignore their mammogram appointments and putting across cancer awareness information in a fun and accessible way. We are looking forward to another series of brilliant events so that more people can BeBreastSavvy.”
