Become a Strictly Come Dancing pro at these top Liverpool Dance Schools

Dah dah dah dah dah dah dah, dah dah dah dah dah! Strictly is back and you can join in too!

The celebs have met the pro’s a coupled up to begin a rigorous training regime ahead of the 15th series of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. Sure to get off to an emotional start as its the first series without the legendary Sir Bruce Forsyth, 15 couples will take to the floor for the first proper show on Saturday 23rd September 2017.

The line-up for this year looks awesome, some young bucks in actors Joe McFadden and Davood Ghadami, some musical talent including Alexandra Burke, Aston Merryfield and Mollie King and some old school charm and wit from comedian Brian Conley and presenter Ruth Langsford. Merseyside’s very own entry into this years competition is none other than celeb chef and presenter Simon Rimmer. Snakehips Si, as we’ve already dubbed him has been partnered with World Mambo Champion and 2016 winning pro, Karen Clifton and having watched the pair in rehearsal, we’re hopeful they can bring that glitterball to Merseyside this December.

Have you ever fancied learning how to tango? Maybe you’d prefer an elegant waltz, or how about going back to basics and perfecting a tap routine? As well as being a great form of exercise, dancing is also a proper good laugh. We’ve put together a handy list of Liverpool Dance Schools that offer adult lessons so you can break out the spandex and sequins and learn something new.

Here’s 6 Liverpool Dance Schools that can teach you how to really dance….

1 – MDI, Hope Street

Merseyside Dance Initiative, based on Hope Street offer a jam packed, 6 days a week schedule of all kinds of dance and movement classes. From modern tap to move it mums, beginners ballet and pilates. We’re dying to try out the Afrofunk session. Find out more and book your first session here.

2 – Liverpool Dance Centre, Renshaw Street

How about learning to jive, flamenco or quick step as part of your hen party celebrations? Liverpool Dance Centre on Renshaw Street offers fun packages for parties alongside its timetable of ballroom, belly dancing, jazz and more. Check out the class list and book here.

3 – Topaz Dance, Heald House

Who’s up for Salsacise, beginners tap or a bit of fancy Latin footwork? Then get yourself down to Topaz Dance Centre in Garston and get ready to move muscles you didn’t even know existed! With beginner, improver and advanced classes available, you can take part no matter what your level of experience. Info and class lists here.

4 – Vernon Johnson School of Dance, Allerton Road

Vernon Johnson School of Dance has been producing top class performers for almost 100 years, so they really know how to put their best foot forward! Based on Allerton Road, this stalwart of dance offers adult classes over four evenings per week from first steps to advanced ballet. Bend and Stretch! Class times and booking info here.

5 – KNT Danceworks, Studio 76

Jazz hands at the ready as KNT Danceworks line up a whole load of adult dance class fun at Z Studios, Devon Street on week day evenings. Condition that core, work on your posture and shake what yo momma gave you with drop in sessions for as little as £2.50! Break out those jazz shoes and strike a pose. More info here.

6 – Bust the old skool club moves with Lee Butler

Alright so ballroom and Latin dancing isn’t for everyone, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out! Fancy a bit of boyband two-stepping? Moonwalking like Jacko? Or simply throwing out your classic club moves (ref says play on is our fave) get your tickets for Can’t Touch This at Camp & Furnace with Lee Butler on 2nd December and party like its 1995!
