Three years on from shootings that ‘rocked’ Liverpool, Merseyside Police say they are working closer than ever with local communities.

Merseyside Police was one of the first forces in the country to receive Home Office funding for a Clear, Hold, Build initiative – known locally as Evolve – following the deaths of Olivia Pratt-Korbel, nine, 28-year-old environmental health worker Ashley Dale and Sam Rimmer, 22, in August 2022.

Three years on from its launch, the force says the scheme – now rolled out across four areas – has led to a 300% increase in community intelligence.

Detective Chief Superintendent Graeme Robson said the three murders “rocked” the area, but police had seen a “strong and positive response”.

World Boxing Championships coming to Liverpool 🤩

The countdown is on until one of the biggest sporting events the city has seen takes place at M&S Bank Arena.

The eyes of the boxing world will be on Liverpool this September as the very first World Boxing Championships land in the city with the force of a well-aimed jab. 🥊

Featuring more than 550 fighters from over 65 countries, this high-octane event will see Olympic champions, hometown heroes, and rising stars battle it out for 20 world titles.

Get set for a week and a half of prestigious pugilism that’s guaranteed to pack a punch.

The Championships are the first elite-level global tournament hosted by the new International Federation, World Boxing. Formed in 2023 to keep the sport at the heart of the Olympic Movement, the federation is giving boxing a fresh new feel – and Liverpool gets the honour of hosting its debut.

Look who’s come back to see us 😍

Cunard’s Queen Anne is in dock at Liverpool Cruise Port today and taking park in the city’s commemoration of the anniversary of VJ Day.

The breath/taking 1058 ft vessel will be joining the national silence at 12pm by sounding her horns on the Mersey to mark the end of the silence being observed.

She will then leave Liverpool at 8pm (approx) to continue her voyage with over 2000 passengers on board, as part of her Iceland and British Isles Voyage.
