This Metquarter store is championing over 60 independent brands! 👏

Bethan Flanagan’s store in Liverpool is All Over The Shop … and that’s just the way she wants it because it’s filled with 62 independent brands, handpicked because ‘they make the things we actually love’.

All Over The Shop opened in Metquarter in January last year and since then it’s become a fan-favourite with visitors and city centre shoppers.

You can find everything from hand-crocheted fashion items and carefully crafted jewellery to vintage wear, gorgeous gifts – and it’s the only in-store stockist of Get Boosted Boob Tape in the area!

Creative Bethan, 33, says:

“There’s a little bit of everything. The idea is that, if you come in, it doesn’t matter what your style is or what you’re into, you’ll find something that’s just for you.

“It’s a warm and friendly space that means you can have a walk round, have a potter, and stay a little longer … it’s like a little day out.”

Bethan launched two pop-ups at Metquarter in the run up to Christmas 2024 – and they were so successful, it led to the store that she’s so proud of now.

“It’s a fashion and accessory concept store which could dress you from head to toe,”

“I want it to be that one-stop shop.

“We’ve got statement designs and upcycled treasures, all under one roof in the old MAC store.

“You’ll find something different and you’ll get inspired; and you can come in and spend your pocket money or really treat yourself to something special.” 🤩

LIVERPOOL’s BILLION POUND MUSIC INDUSTRY 🤩

It’s been unveiled that the impact of Liverpool City Region’s music industry is much bigger than anyone realised, it’s on track to become a £1 billion sector by 2035. 🎶

A new report has revealed that the region’s music industry contributes £780 million annually to the economy and supports more than 14,000 jobs. And if the report is anything to go by, it’s on track to be bringing in £1 billion within ten years.

Jay spoke with Steve Rotherham, the Mayor of Liverpool City Region, to find out just how big this news is, and how he plans to grow the industry even further.

Anthony Brown’s new exhibition has officially launched in Port Sunlight. 🤩🖼️

We sent Pete Price along to catch up with Anthony at the exhibition in the village’s iconic Bridge Cottage.

His portraits tell two stories at once. Stand back and you see the face. Look close and you see the life. Spanning 37 years of work, this exhibition celebrates faces that have shaped Liverpool and the Wirral, from John Lennon to Alan Bleasdale and more.

Have you heard about the ‘VATs The Problem’ campaign? 🍽️🍷

Backed by well-known chef Tom Kerridge and supported by industry body UKHospitality, the campaign is calling on the Government to cut VAT for hospitality businesses from 20% to 10%.

The UK’s 20% rate of VAT is one of the highest rates for hospitality in Europe. It’s the second highest, in fact. Only Denmark is higher.

A lower rate of VAT would reduce the cost pressures facing the sector, and would allow more venues to stay open, rather than have to close their doors for good.

We caught up with Paul Askew of Barnacle & The Art School to hear more. 👀

Liverpool Yacht Club has just started the 105th edition of its Isle of Man Midnight Race! 🛥️

The objective is simple, start from Liverpool, end in the Isle of Man, the first yacht to make it there wins!

Almost 120 years since the first edition, today’s race sees 15 yachts take to the River Mersey in hopes of being the first to arrive in the Isle of Man this evening (or perhaps tomorrow)!

We caught up with the team behind the historic race to hear all about it! 🤩
