Clatterbridge Nurses take on the National 3 Peaks Challenge
2 years ago
Five nurses from the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre are raising money for the Bloom Appeal and blood cancer patients.
A group of five dedicated nurses from the haemato-oncology department at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Merseyside are gearing up for an incredible test of endurance.
Amy Wilson, Emma Lusby, Rachel Hollewell, Luke Dowey, and Molly Kohl are set to tackle the National 3 Peaks Challenge on July 15, 2023, in support of The Bloom Appeal, a charity that greatly impacts the well-being of blood cancer patients in the region.
The national 3 peak challenge involves conquering the three highest mountains in the UK: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon. The nurses will take on this remarkable endeavor back-to-back on the same day, within a grueling 24-hour timeframe.
The real challenge lies in completing the final ascent of Snowdon at nighttime, relying on head torches to light their way.
The Bloom Appeal holds a special place in the hearts of these dedicated healthcare professionals, and the charity plays a crucial role in improving the lives of patients across Merseyside who have been diagnosed with blood cancer.
Their selflessness and commitment to the patients have made a significant difference in recent years, transforming treatment journeys.
The Bloom Appeal supports patients is by offering grants to those facing financial hardships due to their diagnosis. Whether it’s providing warm clothes for the winter months or helping them acquire a new wig to boost their self-esteem, the charity’s contributions make a huge impact.
They also contribute to funding staff training, higher education modules, and essential equipment like fans and heaters—small yet significant aspects that collectively transform the patients’ journey.
With their ambitious fundraising campaign, the nurses aim to give back to The Bloom Appeal and support blood cancer patients across Merseyside.
They’re calling for the community’s generosity and support to help them reach their fundraising goal and make a lasting difference in the lives of those facing this challenging diagnosis.
