Ditch the car, hit the beach and make some memories this summer with Merseyrail

Summer is officially in full swing and with so many unmissable events happening around the region, Merseyrail can help you beat the traffic and arrive in style.


Whether you’re a foodie, family or live music fan, or simply looking to relax at the beach, get there with Merseyrail this summer. Avoid hot car queues by planning your day out and travelling by train across the region this August. 7 destinations and events to check out with Merseyrail this Summer….

1 -Duke Street Market

Since opening its doors earlier this year, Duke Street market has amassed tonnes of fans thanks to its eclectic food and drink offering. Dog friendly and with something for everyone, this stylish, mezzanine venue serves up everything from speciality coffee, freshly baked pizza, loaded sandwiches, sunday roasts, ice cold beer and even bouquets of flowers! 2 –  Summer on the Dock, Albert Dock

There’s a whole host of entertainment and events on offer at Royal Albert Dock as its Summer on the Dock programme kicks off from Sunday 4th August. A Pop-Up Floating Cinema, Keith Haring at Tate Liverpool, yoga, mediation and well being activities, lots of crafts and story telling for the kids and the Albert Dock Food & Drink Festival this September. 3 – Wirral Food and Drink Festival

Wirral Food & Drink Festival takes place on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September at Birkenhead Park. Wirral-born Chef, Paul Askew has curated elements of the festival which brings together an abundance of local producers and celebrity chefs from across the borough to create a two-day gastronomic experience for food and drink lovers. 4 – Fusion Festival

Fusion Festival returns to Merseyside on 31st August and 1st September with an unbelievable line up. Taking over the Sefton Park festival site, Fusion Presents brings Kings of Leon with support from Frans Ferdinand and Jake Bugg on Friday while Rudimental, Dizzee Rascal, John Newman, Jonas Blue and more make up the Saturday offering. Yet another top music festival for this summer in Liverpool. Tickets here.

5 – Beach Days, Formby & Freshfields

It’s easier than ever before to hit the beach this summer with Merseyrail. We’re incredibly lucky to have mile upon mile of beautiful coastline here in Merseyside and what better time to visit the beach than now! Merseyrail can get you to the National Trust red squirrel reserve and sand dunes of Formby beach, or into the heart of the village where speciality coffee, cake and independent eateries and pubs await. 6 – Southport Flower Show

Southport Flower Show returns to Victoria Park on 15th – 18th August 2019. Packed with celeb guests (including MR Tumble), incredible show gardens, shopping village, garden theatre and lots more, more than 50,000 people are expected to attend over the three days event. Take it from us, the only way to travel is with Merseyrail! More on Southport Flower Show here.

There will be no parking access on the roads around the park so avoid the traffic and get the train. 7 – August Bank Holiday

Liverpool city centre venues are lining up some great bank holiday events this summer. Phase One is hosting a Gavin & Stacey quiz night. Oh Me Oh My is offering a summer garden inspired afternoon tea, NYL Restaurant & Cocktail Bar has all your weekend bottomless brunch needs sorted while Liverpool Disco Festival gets funky at Brick Street. Liverpool ONE continues its Summer of Champions programme with family fun and its brand new giant slide! More info here.
