Everything going on this Christmas at St George’s Quarter

Liverpool’s Christmas Market is in full swing at St George’s Plateau, William Brown Street and St John’s Gardens until Saturday 24 December but St George’s Quarter, dubbed the Cultural Quarter, has plenty more in store this Christmas.

From theatre to film and much more, there’s something to do for everyone. Take a look at our list on everything that’s going on over the festive season.

Make it a magical family Christmas this year with the brand-new spectacular production of Irving Berlin’s classic musical, White Christmas at Liverpool Empire from 6 – 31 December. White Christmas features Blue Skies, Sisters, Count Your Blessings Instead Of Sheep, The Best Things Happen While You’re Dancing, I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm and of course White Christmas.

The Scouse Jack & The Beanstalk at Liverpool’s Royal Court is set in Crosby Valley where the cost of living is hitting idle Jack Jones and his mum hard. Expect laugh-out-loud twists and a boss soundtrack including Supertramp’s Dreamer, Limalh’s Never Ending Story and A-Ha’s Take On Me. Runs until 21 January.

Celebrate Christmas in style at the Garden of Eden rooftop at The Shankly Hotel with a festive canapé and glass of fizz on arrival, three-course menu and live music.

Whether you’re planning a quiet, intimate gathering or a sparkling spectacular, Delta Hotels by Marriott in Queen Square offer customisable Christmas parties in your choice of Classic, Extra Sparkle or All The Trimmings.

A cocktail reception will be waiting your arrival at The Liner’s Christmas Cruise Party Nights, shortly followed by a Christmas menu. A live entertainment duo will host the evening’s festivities, lighting up the dance floor and offering your favourite party hits from past and present.

Looking for something a little bit different for your Christmas night out this year? Why not try Boom Battle Bar at St John’s? Try your hand at axe-throwing, shuffleboard, augmented reality darts, beer pong or crazy golf.

Art of the Terraces at Walker Art Gallery considers the culture of football ‘casuals’, which began on Britain’s football terraces in the late 1970s. Through the medium of art, it highlights the clothing brands and sports footwear, music and encounters between rival groups of football supporters which defined an era and generation. Catch it until 12 March.

Running from 6 December to 8 January, Six at Liverpool Playhouse sees the six wives of Henry VIII take to the mic to tell their tales, remixing 500 years of historical heartbreak into an 80-minute celebration of 21st century girl power.
