Here’s where you can pick your own strawberries near Liverpool

Summer’s here and that means strawberry season is too so now’s the time to take a trip to a local farm and go picking before they disappear!
Picking your own strawberries and other berries is a great way to entertain the kids outdoors and end up with something super-fresh and tasty for a picnic or after tea while you’re at it.
If you fancy filling up a punnet or two, here are some farms where you can pick your own near Liverpool …
Kenyon Hall Farm
Head to Kenyon Hall Farm on Winwick Lane in Croft, not far from Newton-le-Willows (J10 off the M62), and you’ll not only find fruit picking but a café, farm shop selling lots of home-grown produce and plant centre, open every day from 9am to 5pm. Advanced booking is needed to pick strawberries, and tickets sell out fast, but there’s also a chance to pick other fruits without booking including blackcurrants, redcurrants and whitecurrants. Fields are open from 9.30am with last entry at 4pm.

Delamere Farm Shop
Delamere Farm Shop near Delamere Forest is a hidden gem and fans who’ve been rave about the big juicy strawberries you can pick in the field there. It’s open from 10.30am with last entry usually around 4pm, no booking needed, no dogs allowed, and there’s a picnic area and free parking. Because they’ve had such a busy few weeks, they often close while more strawberries ripen, so check on social media before you go. The postcode is CW8 2HZ if you’re planning on going by car.

Benty Farm Tearooms
On School Lane in Thurstaston, lots of people go to Benty Farm Tearooms to get their Christmas trees and pumpkins, but they also do pick your own strawberries and raspberries. The fields have lots of lovely ripe fruit ready to pick, there’s no need to book, you can just turn up and head out with your punnet ready to fill. Dogs are allowed in the tearoom outside garden area but not in the fruit fields. The tearoom itself is a top spot for homemade lunches and gorgeous cakes.

Sandhill Strawberry Farm
Sandhill Strawberry Farm is in Rainhill, near junction 7 off the M62, and during picking season (usually until early August) it’s open 7 days a week from 10am until 6pm. This is a traditional working farm so it’s lovely surroundings to pick your own strawberries, raspberries and blackberries and, if you don’t fancy doing the work, they sell lots of homegrown fruit and veg in their farm shop. There’s plenty of parking too.
