Hill Dickinson Stadium prepares to welcome thousands of Rugby League fans for Magic WKND

Hill Dickinson Stadium is preparing to welcome one of the biggest events in the Rugby League calendar as Magic WKND makes its debut at Everton’s waterfront home. 

Rugby League’s summer festival heads to Liverpool’s northern docks on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July, bringing six huge Super League fixtures, thousands of supporters and a full weekend of sport, music and entertainment to the city. 

Final preparations are now stepping up, with the rugby posts installed as the stadium continues its transformation from Premier League to a major stage for Rugby League. 

The event has already enjoyed a record-breaking start, with ticket sales passing 80,000 as supporters from across the Rugby League family prepare to descend on Liverpool for one of the sport’s showpiece weekends. Weekend passes have now sold out, with only a limited number of single-day tickets remaining.

Aaron Duckmanton, Everton’s Chief Revenue Officer, said:

“The response for this event has been outstanding, with ticket sales showing just how much demand there is and how strongly the city, Everton and Rugby League fans have embraced Magic WKND. 

“From the very beginning, our ambition for Hill Dickinson Stadium has been to create a world-class venue capable of hosting major events that bring people to the city, showcase our waterfront and support the Club’s long-term growth. Fulfilling what will be a record-breaking Magic WKND is another important step in that journey with many more exciting steps to come.” 

The arrival of Magic WKND follows the success of last year’s Rugby League Ashes fixture at Hill Dickinson Stadium. While the result may not have gone the way of England, the occasion itself was widely regarded as a success by Rugby League Commercial and by supporters of Super League clubs who attended, helping showcase the stadium’s potential as a destination for major Rugby League events. 

That popularity and positive feedback played a key role in bringing Magic WKND to Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time, with the event now set to deliver one of the biggest weekends yet at Everton’s new home.

“The Ashes fixture demonstrated the stadium’s versatility and the appetite for major Rugby League events at Hill Dickinson Stadium. Magic WKND now gives us the opportunity to build on that success and welcome even more supporters from across the sport for a full festival weekend.
