The most glamorous day of the year in Merseyside is undoubtedly Ladies Day at The Randox Health Grand National and this Fabulous Friday you could be going home with a prize bundle award worth more than £35,000.
The annual Style Award, which takes place on Ladies Day seriously ups the glamour stakes and with more than 50,000 race-goers flooding through the gates at Aintree, getting yourself noticed is no mean feat.
This year we have teamed up with The Ladies Day Style Award and the Guide Liverpool is official media partner for the competition. The prize includes a Range Rover Evoque courtesy of Hatfield Land Rover and a years supply of clothing from Chi Chi London. To be in with a chance of winning simply have your photo taken at one of the four fabulous flower walls, enter your details onto the competition form and listen out for the Style Award Finalists announcement.

This years Style Award judging panel features our very own Jay Hynd, ITV Racing stylist Sarah Kate Byrne and a representative from this years official Style Award partner, Chi Chi London. Watch above as our Gemma chats with Jess from Chi Chi London and gets some style tips for Ladies Day.
Between them the judges have worked with some of the most glamorous women on stage and screen. We asked our Jay what he’s looking for in the 2019 finalists, he said: “Individuality, someone who hasn’t spent a fortune, someone who’s got their own unique, individual flair.
“I’d love the 2019 Style Award winner to be someone local and I’d love it to be a lad for once, the first male winning the Style Award in 2019, it could be you.”
Previous winners of the Style Award have worn lots of different styles and have also been a mix of ages too. 2018 winner Robyn May Quinn wowed the judges with her boho chic style dress and golden crown headband. 2017 winner Faith Almond, a previous finalist, took home her Range Rover prize fund thanks to her understated elegance.
Faith’s winning outfit was made up from co-ords and vintage jewellery. Finally, 2016 winner Anna Gilderoy rocked a flock pattern cream and gold dress and matching fascinator, beating a pattern-heavy finalists line up.
Whatever your outfit choice, make sure it makes you feel a million dollars, because confidence always shines through. Shoes you can walk in confidently also helps. (Don’t forget there’s a flip flop station from Chi Chi London and Merseyrail too.)
Previous winners have shown that the Style Award is very much about individuality. While on-trend colours, shades and certain types of dress/suits maybe in the stores, its how you style them that matters. Go for gloves, dress jewellery, sun glasses, neck scarfs, whatever. Make that outfit your own.
The one sure fire way to be sure no-one will be wearing the same outfit as you, is to go vintage. We’ve seen some stunning 1950’s fitted dresses, pillbox hats, strands of pearls and some seriously whacky 70’s prints too. Raid your mum’s wardrobe and make a fashion statement.
Not everyone chooses to wear a hat. Last years Style Award winner, Robyn chose a gold leaf headband/crown as her accessory. From feathers and bows to flowers, butterflies and even a Liver bird or two, Style Award judges love a good headpiece so choose wisely if you’re hoping to bag a finalist spot.
When it comes to that all important picture, you only get one shot at it, so make sure you feel 100% comfortable and smiley in your pose in front of the beautiful Style Award flower walls. Stand tall, hold your head up high and await that Style Award 2019 crown!
Keep your eyes peeled for our Gemma throughout Fabulous Friday as she mingles with the crowds on what is easily the most fashionable and fun day of the year.
