Ignite Padel teams up with Creamfields to become first company to take sport to UK Festival

The Merseyside-based business, which now has centres in Speke, West Derby and Cheshire Oaks, will have two courts at this year’s globally-famous electronic dance music event which celebrates 20 years in Daresbury in August.
They’ll be part of an expanded Downtown Village giving festivalgoers the chance to try the fast-growing activity in between the sets of their favourite artists.
And it marks a massive change in festival behaviour where fitness and wellbeing are as much a part of the Bank Holiday offering as the hit tracks from stars like Calvin Harris, Becky Hill, Pete Tong, and Swedish House Mafia who’ll be performing there.
Chris Watson said:
“When I went to Creamfields about 13 years ago there was nothing like this there, it was all about the music. One of the founders of Ignite Padel.
“But everything is changing.”
The Downtown Village includes a wellness corner with yoga, meditation and sound baths; daily fitness challenges; a sensory corner offering a calm escape for those wanting a break from the noisy festival atmosphere; a ball park area with a crazy golf course and the return of the Creamfields Football Tournament; a gymnasium; a retro arcade, a spa, and more.
“Padel is going to go down really well there. It will be brilliant,” adds Chris, “and it will provide a powerful opportunity to introduce the sport to a whole new audience with hundreds of people discovering padel for the first time.”
Chris and the rest of the Ignite Padel team will be present for the whole of the festival, which runs across the Bank Holiday weekend from Thursday, August 27 to Sunday, August 30.

They’ll be on hand to teach people the rules and dynamics of the game, and host mini tournaments for those who want to get competitive.
Creamfields fans will be able to register to enjoy padel via the festival website and Ignite Padel will provide all the equipment anyone needs to play. The Pepsi MAX Presents Creamfields Padel page is located here: Pepsi MAX presents Creamfields | Padel
“Padel is so inclusive,” continues Chris. “You don’t need a racquet background; you just need to get on court and play, and you can pick it up really quickly – that’s why it’s grown so fast and become so popular.
“We play ourselves and always knew it would be successful from the moment we opened our first world-class centre, but even we’ve been surprised at just how much people love it.
“Part of that is the social aspect and the buzzing community that we’ve created and which we hope we can offer at Creamfields too.”
Chris says it’s exciting for Ignite Padel to be part of one of the biggest UK music festivals:
“We feel privileged and proud to be partnering with Pepsi MAX presents Creamfields and being part of a UK festival first.
“As one of the premier padel companies, we aim to work with world-leading brands, so we’re honoured to showcase what we’re about on a platform as iconic as Creamfields.
“It’s going to be very busy, but we can’t wait to inspire more fans of this amazing sport.”
