Lee Butler joins exciting new radio station launching in Liverpool to host new breakfast show

One of Liverpool’s favourite DJs, Lee Butler has announced today he is to leave Radio City to host the breakfast show of In Demand Radio. A brand new station, for Liverpool and the North West created by the team behind Reminisce Festival, of which Lee is also a co-founder.

Lee has spent almost 20 years at Radio City, his departure marks a big change for the DJ, who is one of Liverpool’s most popular radio presenters and promoters. At In Demand Lee will taking a prime position at the station, hosting the ‘Brekky Butler’ breakfast show, as well as a weekend dance show and his legendary Sunday afternoon show. He will also be collaborating on the station’s programming policy.

Admitting it feels like a big risk to leave one of the biggest commercial radio stations in the UK, Lee explained why he’s made this decision

“When you tune into your local radio station you want to hear a local voice or those big anthems that connect with the people of Liverpool and the North West. At In Demand, I will have the total creative freedom to do that without having the same songs on repeat. I feel the time is right for me to throw my heart and soul into building a radio station from the ground up that will feel like radio is coming home to Liverpool.”

Lee will be hosting the week day breakfast show along with weekend dance mixes.  Big name guests from the club scene are already confirmed for a series of specials over the weekends and many exciting DJ names are lined up for the launch including some great local talent. The full programming schedule will be announced in October.

It will always be the biggest radio station locally and will continue to shine but I have to follow my heart and my passion which is the music and this city.
