Liverpool Christmas Ice Festival is back on the Pier Head for 2017

Liverpool Christmas Ice Festival is coming back to the Pier Head this winter … with a super-sized triple-lane ice slide, larger ice rink, giant ferris wheel and 50 traditional Christmas market stalls.

Tickets, including a special price for families, go on sale on September 18 for this year’s event which will feature even more exhilarating thrills and chills – plus a traditional Christmas market full of festive gift ideas, the largest in Liverpool.

After the huge success of last year’s festival, the first in its iconic waterfront location, Liverpool’s biggest ever ice slide is about to get even bigger – with an extra lane added to the high-speed 30-metre run allowing racers to skim along from six metres above the festival as the Three Graces and the Mersey whizz past.

And, because no ice festival would be complete without a chance to skate, for 2017/18 the huge covered outdoor rink has been expanded by almost one third allowing even more space to glide, with a canopy to keep you dry and penguin skate aids to help beginners and young ones master their blades.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy shopping at a new traditional Christmas market with 50 stalls, three German-style bars and a pop-up Bavarian food court serving up specialities including its famous German sausage cooked over hot coals! The market will be Liverpool’s biggest Christmas market.

The unmissable Liverpool Christmas Ice Festival experience continues at the Ice Bar which features a sub-zero room of crystal clear ice sculptures where even the bar, tables and chairs are carved from real ice. Just grab a foil poncho, a cocktail or alcohol-free drink for the kids and chill-out in the city’s coolest bar.

Festivalgoers can head to a Christmas fair packed with rides for all ages and a giant ferris wheel offering stunning aerial views across the city.

Or, if you fancy warming up after a spin on the ice rink and slide, the Après Lounge is the place to go for a mulled wine or creamy hot chocolate, while DJs provide the perfect soundtrack late into Friday and Saturday nights.

Liverpool Christmas Ice Festival launches on November 17th and runs through Christmas and New Year until January 7.

Adult skate tickets are priced £11.50 / teenagers13-15, OAPs, students & concs £10.50/children 3-12 years £9.50/family (2+2 or 3+1) £36; ice slide tickets are £5 for three runs and can be bought in advance online by visiting www.icefestivalliverpool.co.uk
