Liverpool’s BIGGEST ever karaoke night is coming to Hangar 34

A musical extravaganza is sure to hit the right note with Liverpool’s karaoke lovers – after it was revealed the city is set to host its biggest ever mass sing-along.

‘MegaOke’ will see up to 1,000 people join together to sing a range of classic tracks at Hangar 34 on Greenland Street, Liverpool, on Thursday 23 November, before a Christmas themed event on Thursday, December 14.

With huge group sing-alongs, competitions, prizes, quizzes and even rap battles, the event is set to be unlike anything ever seen before on Merseyside.

Alex Winters, one of the presenters on the night, said: “I am a huge music fan and have always loved a bit of karaoke, but this is a step up from your ordinary sing-along!

“I’m not a good singer myself, but I love singing! I thought this would be a great way for people like me to enjoy a karaoke night and not feel self-conscious.

“Those singers who are a bit more confident will also have the chance to get involved in sing-offs and rap battles, which will be amazing to see.

“This will be Liverpool’s biggest ever sing-along, with 1,000 people joining in with all kinds of classic hits from across the decades, but it also a night filled with fun with daft contests, dances and games taking place amongst other things.”

Alex, a former presenter on Cbeebies, added: “Picking the venue for MegaOke was so easy – Liverpool is the home of music so what better city to hold an event like this? It should be an absolutely phenomenal night and unlike anything that anyone will have experienced before.

“I can’t wait to get on stage and lead everyone in harmony together. It doesn’t matter how good a singer you are, or what music you are into, I guarantee you will have the time of your life!”

The event is the brainchild of Alex and fellow presenter Kelly Parker, one of the founding members of Soulfest Festival. She has sung and presented alongside the likes of Gabrielle and Lemar.

The evening will see crowds join in with karaoke classics, with lyrics projected onto a huge screen and silly accessories – like inflatable mics and guitars – handed out to willing participants.

Kelly, who went to university with Alex, said: “MegaOke is an opportunity for people to come together and do what they love to do!

“People love to sing but don’t always have the confidence to do it on their own or in front of other people. MegaOke will give them to chance to be themselves sing without feeling self-conscious.

“Liverpool is a UNESCO City of Music so it’s the perfect place for MegaOke. I can’t wait to get up on stage with my old mate Alex and have a load of fun with hundreds of other people.”

Hangar 34, in the Baltic Triangle area of the city, was opened in October 2016 and has recently been fitted with a brand new PA and lighting system, along with the 9 x 3 video wall.

Early-bird tickets for the over-18s event cost £7 until November 16th, when they increase to £9. They will be available on the door for £12.
