Following the success of his first ever exhibition, “In One Place”, Liverpool street artist Paul Curtis has created new paintings in order to raise funds for two local charities.

Paul Curtis has painted two new canvases during his exhibition, which was held at the historic Royal Liver Building, the very place that inspired Paul’s first public work, “For all Liverpool’s Liver Birds”, affectionately known to many as simply, “The Wings”.

The two pieces created measure one square metre each and are unframed acrylic paintings, one is a close up of gorilla, the other a roaring tiger.

Paul Curtis said:

“I love nature and I wanted to capture images that remind us of our connection to the natural world.”

Both artworks are listed in the auction and the successful bidder will choose their favourite. After this selection has been made the remaining piece will be first prize in a draw which will take place at the end of March.

The second draw prize will be a signed framed print by Paul, of the winner’s choice. Money raised from the auction and draw will be shared equally between Alder Hey Children’s Charity and The Whitechapel Centre.

The artwork will be a lot in the latest event by Adam Partridge Auctioneers’ Liverpool Saleroom, who have very generously offered their services for free to support the benefitting charities, namely; Alder Hey Children’s Charity and The Whitechapel Centre.

Aaron Dean of Adam Partridge Auctioneers said:

“Our Liverpool team are excited to support Paul Curtis, one of Liverpool’s most famous contemporary names, and provide this rare opportunity to buy at auction an original artwork and support two important local charities. It is going to be an interesting and enjoyable day for everyone!”

Members of the public are free and encouraged to attend the two day auction at the Adam Partridge sales room on Jordan Street in Liverpool, with Paul’s work (Lot 510) going under the hammer on the morning of Thursday 7th of March.

Anyone who would like to bid virtually can do so once online bidding opens on the 29th of February via adampartridge.co.uk. The highest figure placed in advance online will be the opening bid when the lot comes up in the physical auction on the 7th. Online bids will then continue to be taken live in the sale room.

The Whitechapel Centre commented:

“We’re delighted that Paul is supporting two great local Liverpool charities. Paul’s work brings joy to people as they walk around and it is fitting that he will be helping to end homelessness for people in his home city.”

Cath Harding, Head of Community Fundraising for Alder Hey Children’s Charity, said:

“We are incredibly honoured and thrilled to be one of the chosen charities. Having been a part of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity Art Event in 2021, Paul’s decision to support us once again speaks volumes about his generosity and commitment to making a positive impact for the local community.”

Further details about the auction can be found here. Draw tickets are £5 each and can be bought at Paul’s exhibition at the Liver Building 10am-5pm until the 1st of March or any time before the 31st of March via Paul’s website.
