Randox Grand National 2023 – Everything we know so far

Grand National day is fast approaching and here’s what we know so far about Liverpool’s biggest annual event.

We’re just months away from one of the greatest festivals in the racing calendar – The Randox Grand National 2023.

And as all eyes turn to Aintree, the countdown is on for three days of first-class racing and partying and, of course, everyone’s favourite steeplechase.

As always, The Guide will be there every day giving live coverage of the action, on and off the course, so it goes without saying we’re very excited.

There’ll be lots more news as we get closer to the event, but here’s what we know so far…

When is the Randox Grand National Festival 2023 taking place?

This year’s event takes place from Thursday, April 13 to Saturday, April 15.

Where will it be held?

It will be held as usual at Aintree Racecourse, which has hosted the Grand National Festival since 1839.

What happens on the Thursday?

The opening day is always one of the most chilled and relaxed of the festival. There’s a full racing schedule, starting at 1.45pm, and as well as being able to watch world class racing, there will be live music and entertainment to get things off to a great start.

What about Ladies Day?

Friday is always a fabulous day when everyone gets glammed up for Ladies Day. It’s one of the biggest days in the racing calendar – and in the fashion one!  And this year promises to be as amazing as ever because once all the races are run, Adele Roberts will be keeping the party going with a live DJ set on the Red Rum lawn.

Southport-born Adele who currently presents BBC Radio 1’s Weekend Breakfast Show, says: “I can’t wait to be at Aintree on Ladies Day to celebrate with everyone!

“I know how much the people of Liverpool turn out for that day, and I’m excited to perform my DJ set and get everyone dancing! As a Southport girl it’s a real thrill for me to be involved.” 

Is there a Style Award this year?

The Style Awards are a massive highlight of Ladies Day and for 2023 they’ve got a new official style partner – Scottish-founded fashion retail group QUIZ. Sheraz Ramzan, chief commercial officer at QUIZ, says: “Our occasion wear is perfect for a day at the races – it’s the ideal time to dress up and have fun. The partnership feels like a natural progression for QUIZ, as in previous years we have seen many attendees of Ladies Day wearing our dresses and accessories.”

Can I buy tickets now?

Yes but as always you’ll need to be quick because they sell fast. Tickets are available from £28.80, with a range of ticket options and areas to choose from, as well as hospitality packages.

And when will the actual Grand National race take place?

It’s the climax of the Grand National Festival, and the Grand National run will take place on Saturday, April 15 at 5:15pm.
