Cancer Research UK invites you to enjoy a totally unique Saturday night out in Liverpool as the Shine Night Walk returns this summer. Raising vital funds for research into all kinds of cancer, this 10k walking challenge is a great way to get together with family and friends and do something that could actually save lives.
One in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some stage in their lives, but the good news is more people are surviving the disease now than ever before. Cancer survival in the UK has doubled since the early 1970’s and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress.
You can play a pivotal role in ensuring more people beat cancer. Taking part in the Shine Night Walk with headline sponsor Ryvita, gives participants an opportunity to support or remember a loved one in a truly unique way, by lighting up the city!
Starting and finishing at Exhibition Centre Liverpool, the 10k walking event will see people of all ages and abilities uniting through light to raise money for life-saving research. People are invited to sign up now and choose to raise money for the area of cancer research closest to their hearts – participants can actually choose a specific type of cancer they’d like to fund-raise for.
Participants will receive a fundraising pack with their walking number, Shine t-shirt and all-important back sign, to let others know why they’re taking on the challenge. You can also get fundraising ideas, training guidance and advice on the Shine Night Walk website shinewalk.org.
The Cancer Research Shine Night Walk takes place on the Liverpool waterfront. The start/finish is located at Exhibition Centre Liverpool on Kings Dock. The Shine Night Walk route takes in the Pier Head, Matthew Street, St George’s Hall, both of the city’s cathedrals, China Town and finishes back at the waterfront.
The Cancer Research Shine Night Walk takes place on Saturday 31st August 2019. The walk itself kicks off at 8:30pm but you’re invited to get energised and grab all your shinery at the start line from 7:30pm. There’s refreshments and merchandise available on the night.
Anyone ages 11+ can sign up to take part in the Shine Night Walk Liverpool 2019. Walkers ages 11-17 must be accompanied by an adult ages 18 or over. Men or women, young or old – get ready to take on 10k around our amazing city for Cancer Research UK. Entry for all is £14.99.
The cause. Most of the Shine Night Walk participants have been affected by cancer and walking in memory or support of a loved one is the biggest motivator for taking part. The Shine Night Walk is all about lighting up the streets of Liverpool. As the sun goes down and the walk begins we want you to be as light, bright and neon as possible. We’re talking fairy lights, glow sticks, torches, whatever can shine a light on fundraising to beat cancer. Check out the online Cancer Research UK shop here to order your shinery and get your glow on.
Shine Night Walk Liverpool needs you. Cancer Research UK is also calling on local men and women to help spread the word about Shine Night Walk before the big day to encourage as many people as possible to enter, as well as helping at the event.
