Swerve the gym with these 8 alternative ways to get fit in Liverpool

Getting fit doesn’t have to involved sweating on a treadmill or pumping iron, check out alternative guide to Liverpool fitness.

It’s already mid January and we’re ashamed to admit that we’ve kind of missed the ‘New Year, New You’ boat! The gyms are chokker and making that first leap onto the rowing machine is enough to frighten us back to the selection boxes. Determined to make some kind of start, we’ve looked at some alternative ways to get fit in Liverpool, and it turns out we’re spoiled for choice!

Here’s 8 alternative ways to get fit in Liverpool…. (and have a giggle while you’re doing it)…

1 – Throw some shapes at Clubbercise

Boss dance tunes, glow sticks, neon colours and a good mate to laugh along with, that’s what Clubbercise is all about. There are various sessions across the Liverpool City Region, all you need is a good mate and to wave your hands in the air like you just don’t care! Click here to find your nearest session.

2 – Park Run with the Family

The Guide Liverpool Stanley Park Junior Park Run

Park Run is a free, timed 5k even that happens at various Liverpool parks on Saturday mornings at 9am. Simply go online to register and print out your barcode, turn up, say hi, expect to become part of a fitness family and see how you get on. Some people run with buggies, dogs and wheelchairs at some events, so there’s a route for everyone. You can also volunteer to marshal too. Click here to find your nearest Park Run.

3 – Make a splash Wakeboarding

All your kit and tuition can be provided, all you have to do is give it your best shot! Click here to find out more.

4 – Free your Mind with Meditation

There are a number of meditation groups taking place across Merseyside, some even offer drop-in session making it easier to find your calm in the middle of your working day. Mental health is as important as physical health and so taking time out is an essential part of every day life. Check out the free meditation session at the Tempest Building on Wednesday evenings between 6-8pm so a taster. More info available here.
