Today marks 100 years since the consecration of the iconic Liverpool Cathedral.
It was on this day, 19 July 1924 that the building was officially named a cathedral.
It is the largest religious building in the UK and the fifth largest cathedral in the world.

Liverpool’s music scene is set to ignite this summer as Jacaranda Records teams up with The Courtyard at Punch Tarmeys to host the city’s biggest Battle of The Bands competition, Warriors Of Rock.
The event promises to be a showcase of the city’s emerging talent, offering bands the chance to win a £2000 prize, a professional recording session, and a coveted slot at an upcoming Jacaranda Records show.
Contact @jacarandabaltic to apply and head to the Punch Tarmey’s Courtyard every Friday between now and the start of September to find your next favourite band. 🥳

easyJet has announced a host of new routes from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
Today the airline launched flights to the Norwegian capital Oslo and Sharm-el-Sheikh, in Egypt.
The news follows new flights being introduced to Derry, Malta, Enfida in Tunisia, Hurghada in Egypt, Corfu, Berlin, Prague, Fuerteventura and Marrakech.
Paul Winfield is Aviation Director at Liverpool John Lennon Airport and he told us about what passengers can expect as easyJet continues to grow its services from the city.
The carrier now bases seven aircraft at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, flying around 2 million passengers a year, offering up to 340 flights each week to 27 destinations.

Queensway Tunnel is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a rare chance to tour the historic Liverpool landmark on a Mersey Tunnel Tour for free.
This weekend – Saturday and Sunday, July 20-21 – instead of driving through tunnel, you’ll be able to don your hard hat and experience an amazing behind-the-scenes look at this incredible feat of engineering. You simply turn up to the George’s Dock Building on the day and yours will run every 30/45 minutes on a first come, first-served basis.
Visitors will be able to walk under the road, take a look at the original control room, and discover all about the tunnel’s history during special mini-tours to mark the occasion.

Liverpool FC has revamped its LFC Museum for the first time in a decade, to retell the club’s story in a brand-new immersive way.
Located in the heart of Anfield it’s a tribute to the legacy of the club for fans from all over the world to discover and experience the LFC story from past to the present. State-of-the-art exhibits showcase iconic moments, legendary players and illustrious achievements.
The relaunch has integrated cutting-edge technology including multimedia installations to bring the history of the club to life.
From humble origins to one of the world’s most historic and famous football clubs, the reimagined space is a celebration of LFC’s status as English football’s most successful club.
Featuring nine new spaces, the museum takes you on a journey through time starting with ‘where it all began’ and ending on a tribute to former manager Jürgen Klopp.
