Taste Liverpool. Drink Bordeaux runs over the 4-day bank holiday jubilee weekend and will celebrate the city’s famous food and drink culture. From fine dining to street food and everything in between, it will unite the independent restaurants, bars and markets who together create one of the world’s most vibrant hospitality sectors.

And now the team are very proud to announce the programme details set across Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5th June. There are free family friendly activities including immersive takeovers by leading restauranteurs and chefs, cookery demonstrations, food inspired cultural events and over 50 restaurants will create special festival menus. The Taste Liverpool, Drink Bordeaux programme highlights include:

Official Festival Menus and Venues

Over 50 of Liverpool’s leading restaurants will create special menus as part of Taste Liverpool. Drink Bordeaux. For four mouth-watering days, chefs will inspire guests across a range of culinary themes with each unique menu and linked to their restaurant. The public will be able to vote for their favourite menu during the festival with the winning restaurant each in category getting the chance to travel to the world famous Bordeaux Wine Festival and represent the city later in the year.

Free Chef Demos at The Bombed Out Church all weekend

The iconic Bombed Out Church is one of Taste Liverpool. Drink Bordeaux’s key destinations. Here, many of Liverpool’s leading chefs and kitchen stars will be hosting free 45-minute sessions from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th June and showcasing their incredible skills, with 4 sessions per day. Guests confirmed include Paul Askew (The Art School), Simon Rimmer (Sunday Kitchen), Elizabeth Acker (Great British Bake Off), Sarah Mountain (Channel 4’s Snackmasters) and Gabriella Margiotta (Gabriella’s Kitchen) with more to be revealed in the coming weeks. Paul Askew says: “We’ve got some brilliant guests for the free cookery demonstrations across a wonderfully wide range of chefs, kitchen stars and well known food and drink faces.” All sessions are free and first come, first served – timings for each demonstration will be announced soon.

In between each demonstration the venue will transform into the Kitchen Disco, with DJs performing family friendly sets to get everyone up and dancing.

Producers’ Market

Taking place from Thursday 2nd until Sunday 5th June, a thriving city centre market will host many of the city’s artisanal farmers, producers, makers and cultivators, with stalls showcasing the wonderful range of produce and independent craftmanship from the region. There’s an abundance of independent traders doing amazing work in the fields and farms around Liverpool, and the Producers’ Market will help bring this to life during the weekend with their wonderful wares available to buy. Details on the traders taking part and locations will be announced soon.

Bordeaux Wine Tasting Experience

Tickets for the Bordeaux Wine Experience are on sale, which takes place at the palatial Town Hall. French flair will meet Scouse style with a touch of theatre for all to enjoy, blending the classic appeal of the breath-taking building with modern flourishes including a DJ and MC. Tickets include six tasting glasses of Bordeaux wine; a complimentary Bordeaux wine glass; entrance to wine masterclasses throughout the day; the opportunity to talk to the world’s finest wine producers. As the only UK city to host the Bordeaux Wine Festival this year, it’s a prestigious honour to continue the partnership with the wine-producing region.

Sessions spread across each day of Taste Liverpool. Drink Bordeaux visit the website HERE.

Good Tasting Music

To help bring the streets of Liverpool to life during the festival, three performance spaces across the city centre will play host to an eclectic mix of musicians over the 4 days of the festival. For a UNESCO city of music, this will be a tasty line up keeping everyone entertained from lunch until dinner.

Lunchtime Special

Between 12.00 and 14.00 each day, a series of pop-up performances and family friendly activations will either help build up everyone’s appetites or burn off the lovely lunches. Taking place across Hope Street, Bold Street and Castle Street, keep an eye out for these little. More info is coming soon.

The Bordeaux Bar in Martin’s Bank

In what is quite possibly Liverpool’s grandest venue, the Martins Bank will open its doors after being closed to the public for many years. The historic site is a truly awe-inspiring building, like a film set brought to life, and each day through the festival will host a range of affordable Bordeaux wines and fine-dining snacks from The Art School. Martins Bank will also host the Taste Liverpool. Drink Bordeaux’s launch on Thursday, a commonwealth celebration lunch and a grand dinner on Saturday night with a Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra string quartet and chilled music from local DJs.

The weekend will further enhance the city’s reputation as a true gastronomic destination with its food and drink influences mapped from around the world. Organised by Culture Liverpool, Marketing Liverpool and Liverpool BID, Taste Liverpool. Drink Bordeaux will develop the staycation and tourism markets in 2022 and beyond.

Julia Huf, Taste Liverpool. Drink Bordeaux’s Project Director, says: “I’m incredibly proud as we announce the Taste Liverpool. Drink Bordeaux programme and everyone can see what we have got planned for June. We are going to be celebrating the wonderful food and drink scene we have here, from the restaurants and bars to the markets and artisans who all work together to make Liverpool so special. There’s lots of amazing free stuff to do, fabulous participating restaurants to visit and wine tasting events to indulge in. It’s going to be a fantastic weekend for everyone.”
